Last weekend I went with some friends of mine to Maison de Moggy. Edinburgh Cat Cafe 1st Cat cafe opened and soon as I heard about it I had to go. Now if you follow me on Facebook or Instagram you might have seen some photos already but its Cats! Am such a Cat person. So yes, Cat cafe...
what is it? Well it is just a normal cafe but while you eat and drink you get to enjoy the company of furry babies as most of the cats, who were very young and looked so tiny to me as my own cat is 6 this year and is a huge tom.
There was a small selection of cakes, treats and drinks and no the cats are not near the food , all the food is sealed away from the cats. The rules are simple- once in shoes off and disinfect your hands. No waking up the sleepy kitty's or picking them up.
Apart form that you can enjoy your booked time - we booked for 2 hours.-with your new furry friends. The cats were content and happy in the cafe which the staff or 'Cat Nanny's' have created into a very calm environment for the cats. There is plenty toys and climbing activies for the cats to amuse them selfs and they get lots of love and attentions from the customers and the Cat Nanny's on watch. They have lots of room to roam about in. There was also a down the stairs was a second room where 2 cats were found and seemed to be having a sleepy day where the more active cats were upstairs having all the fun. I think one was Coco who was a black British short haired cat, All the breeds were pedigrees. From Ragdolls to Bangles.
There was lots of places for a Cat nap or a place for the Cats to get away and have some me - time alone away from customers. Lots of hiding places to play and jump out on each other too.
All the Cats were friendly once they got used to you and some would be happy to sit on your lap for a cuddle and pet, where others were game for chasing toys or string around the room.
I loved seeing all the cat like towers and climbing frames to keep them active and happy, its like a Kittys playground wonderland. Also there was plenty beds for the cats to curl up on and sleep. The current location is not a permanent place for the Cafe - they will be moving later this year but it was only a 5-10mins bus ride from Prince's Street.
Over all I enjoyed my visit to the cat cafe, it was very relaxing, delightful and lots of fun, more so because I went along with my kawaii girls and we all had a giggle wearing cat ears and most of us ended up in pastels, the Staff loved our cat ears. For some reason I thought it would of be a noisy busy place but no it was purrrfact. I can not wait to return, to play with the kitties again and would love to take some other friends to share the experience. If you love cats and cake and looking for a nice place to chill out with the fur babies then this is the place for you!
Till next time!
