Hyper Japan - Part 2

Hello every one and yay, am on part two of my Hyper Japan adventure.
It has been so hard to outline such a huge event and try to put it all into words. Any way this part is all about the music, J- fashion, cosplay and Kawaii things!  Cause you all know, How much I love Kawaii~ Hehe! I might even have a third part to this, I really did take way to many photos~ whoops!
(Image heavy post.)

So the stages were the place to be at Hyper Japan , I really could not say, which was the stage I enjoyed the most cause they were all entertaining in every aspect of Japanese culture. We had Fashion shows, Dances, and lots of super fun.

Showing off some art.

Hey cuties,
So this is more of a mummy post but I guess it could come in handy for some of you. As a mummy I like to let chibi bean express her creative side, I think its cute.
We do pens, paint, make and crafting, but it was getting to the point where I could no longer display her pieces of art on the fridge. Not only that my magnets were starting to give up as chibi bean was putting piece after piece of art up on top of each other. I found while making a cup of tea I could no longer find a way into the fridge. I started to look for some ideas on the internet a way to display her cute art with out pinning it on the walls or the fridge. There was a lot of ideas but I found one which was like a huge sheet of plastic that had been set up into pockets to put drawing and even photos into it. For displaying and you hung it over a door or on the wall. But it cost quite a bit!

But I looked at it again and was like ...wait are those just not like multi polly pockets you would have in a folder! (light turns on above my head.)
So I grabbed a few of my old file pockets and stuck them together..haha that simple!

So you get the idea here are a few photos of our Kawaii Art displaying ideas.

I made 2 sets with 4 pockets each and tied on some string to hang them.
There is also a string with baby pegs with some of our photo's of family in the middle. Also a idea that can display photos or pictures. You can find cute pegs from Hobby craft .

It was really easy to do , Just some sticky tape and stick them together. You can hang these up anywhere.
We spend a lot of time up at the table so that's why we put it here.
Also I got a Cake stand for Christmas and I felt it was a bit to pretty to only bring out to use for just cakes soo..

As you can see it had become a bit of a display for all the pens in the pot , a home for Kitty and Mimmy and a place to keep the buttons. Yes our buttons go missing a lot so this is home for them...but they only stay there if I place them there. If some one else has...it can become a interesting game of find the buttons.
So I guess you could apply the idea to Posters or other pictures, maybe even penpal letters or something.
Maybe you might want to make different sized pocket holders and tape them in different shapes.

Hope you like the post!

Origami lets make it cute.

Origami is the art from Japan of paper folding, ori meaning "folding", and kami meaning "paper" (kami changes to gami due to rendaku).I have been admiring the art since a small girl and only this year bought a starter kit to learn to make some.I through myself in the deep end and attempted advanced projects...My hope faded as my cranes looked like mush and my flowers looked like paper aeroplanes.

However like the Amigurumi,I kept trying over and over with scrap paper, then like the Amigurumi it clicked in place(maybe I was from Japan in my before life.....)Eventually I made a crane and was overjoyed after that,I went looking on the net for more things to make.

Tartan Kawaii Meets Minty Kitty Art

Hi there Minty Kitty Could you tell me a little about when you started doing your art?

I have been drawing since I was very young, mostly copying old Japanese wood block prints in pen and ink, my father taught me how to paint!I have only seriously been drawing though for the last three years, I have just completed a degree in Illustration and can now focus 100% on what I love!

Wow Cool ,I love your style What would you say inspires you?

My inspiration is fashion and cute things! I see everything as cute, from Kitties to slugs!

I have always been interested in Asian culture since I was very small, my earliest memories are watching old Godzilla and Kurosawa Movies with my father and listening to 80's Japanese Hair Metal band Vow Wow!

This naturally progressed to Anime and Manga.

What you would like to achieve with your art and what else you like to do with it ^^

My dream is to design cute stationary!
It doesn't sound super ambitious, I know, but I have always loved collecting adorable writing paper, pens and pencil cases and would love to make my own!

I hope that I can give a little cute to everyone who sees my work and make them smile!

Kimich Kawaii!

Have you checked out Kimchi Kawaii?
I found them in a facebook group where there is a bunch of Kawaii creative artists. So I thought it would be nice to introduce you to Kimchi Kawaii's Owner.

Tell us a little about your self :
''I've been running Kimchi Kawaii for 4 years now. Started it off with mostly my designs and then branched out into crafted items which caused me to start a sub brand called Frosted Fleur de Lis. Cause you know, working a full time job and doing a side business for one brand wasn't enough!
I asked Kimich kawaii a few questions about their business adventures

There is a range of Goodies that Kimchi kawaii have to offer!

How cute is this bat...I may have bought it...

Tartan meets Kimich Kawaii Interview

Lets ask Kimich Kawaii some nosiy questions
*^_^*

Hello Kimich Kawaii can you tell us what was it that inspired you to build a business?

I've always loved doing art and knew it was something I wanted to do for a living. I heard about print on demand businesses like Cafe Press and Zazzle and figured that was a great way to get my designs out to the world.

What's the meaning being the Brand names? they are very usual.

My main brand actually used to be called Soy Happy. I was just figuring out the whole business thing and didn't do a search to find out if that name was already being used and it was. I was contacted by the trademark holder (very politely I might add) and I agreed to stop. I had only had it for one year at that point and my marketing attempts had all failed so I wasn't particularly attached to it. Plus, people were thinking it was a Spanglish thing since 'soy' is the first person conjugation for 'to be'. They thought I was meaning 'I am happy' and mixing languages. So then I came up with Kimchi Kawaii because I'm Korean and doing Japanese inspired 'kawaii' art.

Frosted Fleur de Lis was the winner of two names I came up with from me throwing a bunch of words together that I liked the sound of and making sure no one had the name already, lol! All I knew was that since most of my crafts are sweet/sugary, I wanted something that reflected that. I also had a cooler logo idea for Fleur than my other name idea

Wow that is so interesting!
What style would you say your aiming for in your products?

Definitely kawaii style. I kind of keep my Kimchi Kawaii stuff more simplistic and generally happy and full of bad puns. I like to make people laugh. Frosted Fleur is more pastel, sweets style, aimed at lolitas and people who just like sweet things.

What would you say inspires you the most?

People who can do their art full time inspire me - not just kawaii artists, any artist who has reached that level. That is my dream.

Where do you see your self in the next few years?

Hopefully, spending more time with Kimchi and Fleur and less time in the office at my full time job. Would like to be able to attend anime cons and sell at them all over the place, even different countries.

Do you have any hopes or achievements you wish to do with your business?

I think it would be so cool to be walking around and run into a complete stranger wearing one of my designs that they purchased from my online shop. My REALLY crazy day dream is that Gwen Stefani of No Doubt would like my stuff.
Seriously, I would just like my brand to be more recognized. It would be really fun to learn how to draft my own patterns so I could sell my fabric designs as Lolita dresses and stuff through Fleur (all I can do right now is put them up in Spoon flower and hope DIY lolitas buy the fabric as all my dresses are made using commercial, copyrighted sewing patterns so I can't sell my loli dresses).

Tell us then hats the most kawaii things you own?

^__^

Uh, that's a really hard question! I have some super cute plushies I got at some cons and online - like Kitty and Puppy Toasts, Mouse Bread and a super cute melon plushie.

Thank you so much for taking part of the Interview
Arigatou gozaimasu ^^

So many cute things!
Cant wait to let you all see my new batty kawaii ring!
Stay Super Kawaii
