How to make a a Kawaii Princess bedroom.

Every one loves having a room, personal space and place to retreat to. Most the time that is your bed room. I myself have wanted a shabby chic with a kawaii princess touch to it. Its a working progress. However I thought why not post up my findings form what I have found here with you all.
I found lots of inspiration online and of course added my own touch. I guess when it comes down to it your personal taste will favour shades and colours so just pick what you like. Myself I took to softer shades as its a bedroom after all and its for sleeping. I know some of you will still be in the frame of mind that your bed room is your whole life. I was like that when I was renting. So feel free to pick the shades and things that you like -its your room . This is simply my guide and ideas.

Lets go!
First off colours are important I picked the shades already on my walls. which is a muted cream shade and a wall of crazy purples ( a feature wall I think it is to be?) - I want to change it but not till time and money ect. So am working with the shades I have in mind and the shades I have. Of course I would love to rip it all off and have it all my way but - not yet. So I picked similar shades to what I want to what I have. Soft colours, cream , soft grey, a hint of pink and lavender .  So am working with those shades in mind. ( you can pink the kinds you want but think princess like.) When it comes to Princess shades, think ( and not limited too.) Pastels. White, Baby Pink / Blue , Egg Duck Blue, Lavander, Dusty Gray ect.

I picked a shabby chic theme with a touch of royalty and cuteness. Cause I wanted to feel like a princess when I step into the room. However keeping in mind Mr also shares the room - I had to hold back on the crazy princess ideas I had! Am sure he will feel like a princess too when its all finally done haha! So I guess I went for a more mature princess theme.  I picked out things like hearts, butterflies, unicorns , flowers, soft images and gentle things . You can also pick if you wish to have a modern princess room , over the top style. If that is not your thing maybe you will pick a more simple clean style instead.

Hints and tips
Things that make a room belong to a princess.
The Bed, if you have the funds go crazy on a Princess style bed or why not up cycle the bed you already have by picking some cute bedding.
The Mirror, Every princess need a magic mirror, mine is a old 80's cream free standing mirror that I have on my dresser but you can find any size, style and colour to match your room. I just can not part with my one cause it belonged to my mum.
The Units/ Dresser , As much as I would love to repaint or replace the pine ones I have . You can dress them up with table runners or pick new ones with white shades and cream or paint your own. Look for anything that is vintage/ Shabby chic.
The Chandler, nothing says princess or queen like a pretty chandler of course its up to you but you can find some really nice ones or just change your light shade to something cute and airy.
The Bed Canopy, totally need something like this. A little fabric draped over the bed or pinned to the walls will add a touch of elegance!
The Extras, This is where you can go crazy and have lots of fun adding your personal touch! Think pretty twinkle lights, cute photo frames, wall art, cushions ect ect.. Myself I have a huge blossom tree with lights on it!

Where to get the stuff?!
Getting stuff can be the fun but and a little stressful. I took to google image searches for ideas at the start and then took to places like ebay, amazon and etsy . Other places such as not on the high street too. Of course you will be surprised at what the street shops have! I found lots of cute things fit for a kawaii princess in Primark, New Look and even B&M even checking out places such as Paperchase, Tiger and Charity shops ! It is also fun looking at places likes of pound shops, Home bargins, Dunelm and Matalan or TKMaxx It is completely worth it!

Now you have some insight and ideas I hope you will all share your own kawaii rooms!
Once my own room is done up and sorted I will do a bed room tour on my youtube or instagram for you all! Have fun doing up your princess kawaii rooms all!

Kawaii Christmas Inspiration

I for one like to put up my christmas tree just after we enter December and enjoy dressing it up each year. My blog was known for its post of the Hello Kitty tree I dressed a few years back and it still to this day circles the interwebs.

However over the years I have moved away from it as every one also jumped on the wagon with themed trees. Last year I just made my tree pretty, this year I would like to make it super cute and girly!  So I thought I would post up some cute girly kawaii ideas here on my blog to inspire every one who reads my blog. I may even film myself dressing the dress and show you all how fussy I am when it comes to my christmas tree which was upgraded to a 6ft one last year !

Any way lets check out some inspiring decorations that are way to cute!
I adore PINK trees! However if you do not have a pink tree do not worry you can still decorate a white tree in pink. Or maybe pink is not your thing, you could always go crazy with rainbow pastel shades! Don't worry if you have a small tree you can still be super creative with a smaller one as well.

Don't forget about decorations as well, These cones could be any colour! But the baby pink looks so adorable.

When it comes to decorations you can use the same ones that you would dress a tree to make your own creative pieces , such as adding them into jars, or on cake display stands maybe even making your own style of garland make with left over decorations. Doing some DIY at Christmas can be fun as well.

As well as theses really cute and colourful ideas you can find lots more on sites such as Pinterest or on google as a search on the images search too.
What plans do you have for christmas this year, Do you enjoy the run up and the decorations that can be super cute as well. Let me know in the comments below.  My link for my pin board is here.

How to be Kawaii- Being a Kawaii Mummy

Hey every cutie. Today am going to open up a bit,to you all about being a mummy.
Not just any mummy but a Kawaii one! Becoming a Mummy was the most exciting thing for me and I was blessed with a little baby girl on Christmas day, 2010. She was not planned for Christmas , it sorta just happened that she was a bit late. Teehee. As most of you know, I refer to her as 'Chibi'.  Meaning-'' little or small person'' in Japanese. This post is a bit of a mix of stuff for you and your little ones.

Being a Mummy has it's challenges. Its tough, its the hardest job in the world. Lots of Hard work, stressful moments of tantrums and there can be a lot of tears, Oh and don't forget the lack of sleep! But its worth every moment. ( Maybe not at the time when your little on is throwing the toys out the cott or wearing his or hers dinner instead of eating it.) huhuh ..

How to be a Kawaii Mummy- its not that hard really! If you are into Kawaii stuff already it makes things a lot easier! The most important thing I think of is - Can I make it Kawaii or do it come in a Kawaii version?

Hints and tips

Think about the stage that your child is at and adapt kawaii that will fit in that stage, I found when they are new born its not the most easiest  time to be a Kawaii mummy! Why? Mainly lack of sleep no one feels cute when they are super tired.I didn't really bother much at this stay but I did add Kawaii in the form of things such as Kawaii looking Change bags or niffy gadgets that were decorated in Kawaii Characters, Decorating baby's room in cute things. The biggest thing I did was having toys in Japanese Kawaii characters for baby to explore. As well as playing Totoro on DVD instead of  normal kids TV for a change. Totoro is Chibi's most loved film - that and Spirited away.

When Baby gets to toddler and the pre-school age. ( where mummy-hood ease's off and you finally get back a full nights sleep again.)Things get more interesting because you really have lots of fun at this stage! They start to get really interesting and independent. Am loving this stage and since I have brought Chibi bean up around Kawaii items and such she can identify the difference between Kawaii ( Japanese cute) and Cute. She knows most of the Kawaii characters and loves to watch Sailor Moon.

Fashion and accessories

Being cute is not just for your little ones, check out high street shops for Hello Kitty and other Kawaii characters to dress you and your little chibi's up with. It can be oneies for those lazy days off nursery or matching outfits inspired from J-fashions, Yup you can even get from Bodyline Lolita for little ones too! And its super easy to find even Pastel and Fairy Kei items for them. Nyaa it great to dress up and have fun! Oh and don't forget about your Kawaii matching accessories some times the Children sections are much more fun to pick out items.

Don't give up on your personal fashions when you become a mummy, If you enjoy your fashion then wear it. However when it comes to going to meet other mummies, at places such as Toddler groups, Nursery and Pre- school, You will find as I have, you stand out slightly. I find that I tone down my Kawaii-ness. However my love for Hello Kitty has not gone un-noticed, the other kids know me for being the mummy who loves Hello kitty ,teeheee!!

I dont wear my j-fashion styles for nursery runs or play dates. Instead I will come up with other ideas by wearing bright colours or use a Kawaii Character hand bag. Fun cute shoes (weather permitted.) Wear cute tops , if I am not in the mood for that I wear my bright Cat hats that can fold the ears down so its not so in your face. When out and about shopping I do look for both toned down items and over the top ones for the days. Heehee!  Nail polish and fake deco-den nails are something that you can easily do. Or why not shock on lookers with a new hair do and wear a wig! I also found wearing wigs were great when you had a sleepless night and had no time to even look at a chance of getting a shower.

Other Mummy Hint and Tips.
  • No matter what keep smiling a smile always makes you super cute.
  • Try and make things Kawaii or cute , if your stuck for ideas hop online and search things like Kawaii food ideas or fun cute ideas for children.
  • Look for Kawaii or similar cute Characters on everything from umbrellas to accessories  for your little ones and  matching ones for you!
  • Do fun and cute things like making cute cupcakes or going out for after-noon tea in your best J-fashion outfits together.
  • Encourage your little ones to be cute and act polite and sweet.
  • Introduce them to the Kawaii things you like, anime, games, characters, J-music ect.The list goes on and on here.
  • Look for things online likes of baby stuff from over seas to get the ultimate Kawaii change/ nappy bag and accessories for baby's. Pick Kawaii items over dull looking ones from Rainbow shaped pillows and colourful bed throws.
  • Always keep in mind and a eye out for pratical cute/ Kawaii  stuff too!

I hope you enjoyed a bit of a insight of being a Kawaii mummy and the things I have done with my my own little chibi. I hope to be able to expand on these topics as my kawaii journey of being a kawaii mummy continues!

Kawaii Easter ideas!

Hey every cutie!
Its almost Easter time, where all the shops decorated with spring themes, Easter eggs and chocolate sections are full to the brim and fashion goes to pastel shades.

There is a spring in our step and finally we can feel like wearing cute skirts and tops. Yay! Rabbits Chicks and baby animals are easy to find at this time of year and most of all baby animals are Kawaii .So here are some Easter Kawaii ideas for you all.

Lets being!
Easter decorations, what is else is super cute to dress up your bedrooms and rooms around the house.
I love those flag buntings you can either make or buy with ease. They can be both used for in doors and outside.

You can also be super creative with these as well why not make hanging Easter egg shapes, bunnies or maybe even some cute chicks to have on your bunting instead.

If bunting is maybe not your thing then why not  try stinging decorative kawaii spring items on some string or thread and have them hanging from a window or wall too.

As well as Decorating the house you can easily paint eggs with little ones over the easter holidays to keep them busy and have some fun. Why not make your Easter painted eggs into your kawaii characters from Sanrio and San-X.
Am sure you can come up with very cute and kawaii ideas for painting the eggs, these will make a cute centre piece on the table when you have guests over for Easter Sunday lunch.

Also did you know that you can get cute Easter themed Kawaii goods that you can give as gifts to your loved ones and kawaii friends!
Yep you can find likes of Hello Kitty, Rilakkuma and friends dressed up as the Easter Bunny and even a spring chicken, Kyaaa Kawaii!
What a great gift to give to some one.

Other ideas can be baking , Every one seems to like or enjoy baking at Easter, hot cross buns and many other things too, but you can make those just as Kawaii as anything else. From turning your normal cupcake into a Easter cupcake nest of mini eggs to making your own Kawaii Bunny shaped macaroons! Kyaa!

Oh and dont for get about wrapping up and presenting your gifts and displays with cute coloured gift wrap and picking cute Easter greeting cards too. Or why not have a shot at making your very own Easter bunny rabbit envelopes and letters with the use of Origami and picking pretty paper to leave a lasting impression for all your friends and family!
(You can use the bunny making evelopes as a skill for any birthdays and celebrations too, as they go down a treat like any other hand made gift.) *nods*

Have a Happy Kawaii Easter every one!

Kawaii DIY Valentines Ideas Felt Hearts

Hello Cuties - again here is my last post for the run up for Valentines day!
I will be doing all my backing and chocolate making on the Thursday so its all freshly made for the 14th to give to my Valentines. I wonder if I will get many cards ( Heehee!!) Yea right! I will  Lucky to even get a card! (n_n)But this post again like the last one can be altered to what you want to use it for!
Today let's make Hanging felt hearts!
(sorry for the crappy Phone photos I cant load up any Camera ones at this time.)
Yay..What you will need is the following.
Sheets of Red felt
A heart template or shape to use as a guide
A pencil to trace the shape on the felt.
A needle
Thread
Scissors.

To start with you should get your heart shaper template and trace around it on the red felts. You do not need to use heart as you can pick any shape you want but cause is near Valentines day I picked hearts. Also they are very cute too. You can pick any colour of felts for your hearts as well so don't let what I have picked limit you in any way. Once you have traced out your shapes you will need the scissors for cutting them out.

Once you have cut them all out I made about 12 single hearts and paired them up to make them double sided, *DON'T throw away any scrap felt!* I paired up the hearts with the pencil showing on the outside and then took my thread and needle and started to do a simple stitch around them but not completely sewing them up, as I then turned them inside out.
Using the left over felts I used that to stuff the insides of my hearts making them into tiny plushie hearts. Make sure you cut up the extra felts into smaller pieces so they fit into the hearts hehe. Then finish sewing up the cute little heart. (^.~) Kawaii!

Do this with your paired up hearts and you should then have 6 plushie cute hearts. Know with the thread you will want to cut a long piece for string them all together as well. So make sure you have plenty thread.Starting with the first heart string it from the top of the heart in the middle and then thread on the second one from the bottom and the top. That way it will swing about less when hung. And then do the same with the rest till you get to the last one. Once at the top make sure to loop your thread and then its ready for hanging up!

Like I already said you don't have to stick with my guidelines of shape and colour. Why not make some stars or Clouds or what about rainbow coloured felts. Also you could add any sort of extra decorations for extra Kawaii fun!

I cant wait to see every one making Kawaii valentines ideas!
Feel free to send me pictures of your Kawaii Valentines DIY's I bet they are super cute.

Till next time!
<3 Stay cute.
