DIY New Year Kawaii Post!

Happy New Year its 2014!
My 1st post of the year- Yay.

Are you all ready to take on the new year!? Have you set your new years resolutions? This year I have made more goals and dreams to reach and aim for! I thought I would share a DIY New Year Kawaii  idea with you all today!
This year I felt it was a good idea to get a 2014 Diary - I don't really use them as I have Calendar's in the House. When I went looking for one in the shops after Christmas the were all on sale but only the dull and non-cute looking ones were left over and neglected.
However I did find a nice sized one with a Camera on the front of it. Perfect I thought. It's cheep, simple and the Camera would remind me to reach for my new dreams. Am hoping to take a Photography class and take more photos at the conventions and events that I will be attending in 2014. Hence the need of a diary

Here is a picture of what it looked like! A bit boring for my kawaii life style! LOL.
So.. I got some of my new Stickers out and gave it a bit of a make over...

I went for a Cat and Bear theme on the cover. It looks much more fun and interesting do you not think?!

Kawaii!!
I added a few gems on to the cover too , I can not wait to fill this in with important dates, goals and dreams to reach for this year. I even have little stickers that act as page book marks to add to this for friends Birthdays and other important entries.

Will you be taking my idea and giving your new 2014 diary a Kawaii make over?!

Hi there Kaila chan I'm very excited to have you be in my Blog interview,
I am a bit of a fan of yours and your blog!
so I am feeling a bit star stuck
*@__@*

Can you tell us when you started to reach your dreams and why?

I started to make a move when I finally took Japanese language lessons every Saturday during my sophomore year in college. I was just starting with my major subjects back then so it was really stressful for me but thankfully, I still managed to learn the basics of Nihongo. My older brother who has been living in Japan for almost 8 or 9 years would be biggest influencer in making me so decided that I should pursue my "Japanese dream". My family and I all witnessed how my brother established himself in a country so foreign and so out-of-reach for a struggling family like us.

He really inspired me a lot that is why even though I had to finish four years of university first (got my first Japanse visa rejected along the way), I really went 1000% in reaching this dream. I tried applying for scholarships, etc. but I failed all of those huhuhu.
We both come from a big family that had a lot of drama (my dad was fired from his job, my mom had illness, one of my brothers got severely depressed) and I learned and matured a lot from that.. and I guess you can tell that my darkest days as a child / teenage really shaped me to be this optimistic / "gambatteru hito" (always doing her best) person.
 I'm a tough girl!

^__^
(We are glad you are a tough girl with a kawaii heart  it makes you, well you <3 )

What inspired you to make a Blog to share your adventures?

Actually, I started Rainbowholic around a year or so before I went to Japan. I used to own another personal website (which I started when I was 14? 15?) then moved to Rainbowholic afterwards. When I was in college, I tried my best updating it regularly but my course (Advertising Management) really took all of my time.... so I thought I should just wait for the day when I could finally see Japan in my own eyes. After that, I had a lot of good experiences and funny discoveries here in the land of the rising sun and I couldn't stop sharing about those! I got a lot of positive feedback and those really encouraged me to bring Japan closer to my readers and make them feel that they are also with me with my photo-heavy posts.

What do you love the most about living in Japan and how would you describe it?

There are so many good things about living in Japan but what I love most about Japan would be-- safety.
If ever you accidentally leave your bag/wallet in a train or somewhere else,Japanese people in general would not even bother to take it home.. instead, they would return it to the train staff. Also, walking alone in the middle of the night is not a scary thing to do... if it were another place, you can encounter robbers, snatchers or even rapists..? "
@_@

What would you recommend to any one to go see if they went to Japan?

Of course, I would recommend them to visit HARAJUKU!! It's the most interesting place in Tokyo because you can experience traditional Japan by visiting the Meiji shrine and witness the latest fashion trends in Takeshita Dori.

(*Takes notes*)

What the most Fun DIY-Kawaii thing you have made and what was the most challenging ?

The most fun DIY-Kawaii / Kawaii DIY would be the Rainbowholic Kuruma-chan (Kuruma=car)!
It's craaaazy!

image belongs to Rainbowholic

(Here is a photo! I love this Car @_@)

I love your Kawaii wheels that you used as a project can you tell us more about it?

About the kawaii wheels / Rainbowholic Kuruma-chan, it's actually a big group effort between my brother + our friends and me.
Since I've been doing an all-out promotion for Rainbowholic, we figured we should do something people have not witnessed before.
My brother and his wife even went back to Philippines to purchase the cheaper reflector stickers / decals because having our own design / itasha made would cost us 500% more or something like that. For less than a week, we worked on the car every single night until sunrise (since it was so HOT during summer afternoons)… and after we finished it, we had a Rainbowholic Ruckus parade in Harajuku~!

Link: See HERE!

I heard your hoping to adopt a puppy has that progressed any further?

Actually, I was very disappointed because the small dog that I wanted wasn't available any more when I applied. :"( I'd still consider adopting a puppy in the future but it would still require monetary means and currently.. I'm broke (spent it on a Hongkong trip >_<). But yeah, I still dream of owning a chocolate toy poodle!!

(KAWAII!!!!!)

Aww I hope you get your Dream puppy soon!
What's the sweetest thing a Fan has done for you and the oddest?

All of my readers are sweet but the sweetest thing that one did would be sending me a package full of letters how I had inspired her + handmade goodies and souvenirs from places she went.
It was very touching that I weeped! Haha~

As for the oddest, I don't think I have received any odd gift yet.. :P

(Aww how sweet ^__^)

Who would you say your fashion inspiration comes from?

My fashion inspiration comes from many Japanese-related influences
(such as the kawaii character + oldskool anime culture).. also, whenever I browse through Japanese magazines such as Kera or Popteen, I also get inspiration from those.
My fashion style is very moody so for me, it's a bit hard to tell where I really get inspired from.

What up coming projects can you share with us?

The new Rainbowholic website that I've been preparing for a month! Watch out for that since I'll be doing the coding on my own :D

(Is excited to see this,Maybe you could revamp my Blog..hehe)

Is there any other places in the world you would like to visit?

I would love to visit Paris, Seoul, Bangkok… and the list goes on! I plan to travel around the world someday =)

What your animes and mangas at the moment?

I started ONE PIECE a few months ago but I had to pause it for a while because.. it's bad for productivity hahaha.
I used to read manga's but now, I love watching Korean dramas and movie's more (yep!).

What fashion trends do you predict that may reach over my way?(UK USA EURO)

I think that tattoo tights would be the next big trend there (haven't seen many Western look book-ers wearing those tights).
(You know I think we will be seeing those tights very soon too!)

Where do you see your self in the next few years?

In the next few years, Rainbowholic may become an actual brand / shop here in Tokyo. Seems impossible but every dream is an insane one anyway. Hehe~

And what other Dreams would you like to reach for ?

I would love to become a creative entrepreneur or a boss of my own in the future.
My ultimate dream is to go home / travel every now and then without worrying for my air plane fare.

Thank you so much for giving us some of your Kawaii time Kaila-Chan,
I am really looking forward to all your new adventures!

You can all keep up with Kaila aka Rainbowholic giving her some Twitter Love and catch up on Rainbowholic Facebook.

Tartan meets the lovely Peach Nia

This is the 1st Kawaii Interview on Stay super kawaii, who I will be interveiwing Peach Nia a stunning lady with class and a huge love for animals. Please be gentle its my 1st ever Blog Interview!

*^__^*

''My name is Peach Nia
I live in the north of England with my lovely husband and furbabies.
I am a huge animal lover, vegetarian and love to make things!

Being such a huge animal lover I loathe animal testing.

I try to educate people about this kindly, without the horror stories or upsetting images, instead through kindness, love and education.

Being a crafty gal I love the idea of creating our own cruelty free products and living as chemical free in our home as we can.I adore making things, all manner of things and all manner of crafts.

I fell in love with all the japanese cuteness 10 years ago, the fake food with faces theme really captured me.

My crafts developed so much that I finally had my own website called dollyday.co.uk selling my cute handmade jewellery of fake chocolates and cupcakes etc. I loved it. Sadly due to illness I had to close my site so now I tend to create for friends and family and recently make things for charity which I love.

I like to dip my toe in as many crafts and give them a whirl.

I can sew, sculpt clay, use resin, crochet and knit although I am a begginer in the last two.Through my blog I also adore to promote other women and companies that really inspire me with their creations.''

Hello Peach,Thank you so much for being my 1st Kawaii person to interview!

*^_^*

We would love to get to know you more can you tell us more about your furbabies?

I have three gorgeous moggies (Cuba, luna and Oreo)
I have two amazing Chihuahuas (Captain and Levi) They are my babies.
I don't have human children but I feel I have my furry kids and spoil them rotten!!

They have taught me a lot about love, forgiveness and compassion and how to play!
They astound me, they have such a zest for life and endless love to give.
We can learn so very much from animals.

How do you do your part to help all animals and their charity's?

A portion of my Husband's wages each month go to our charity The Dog's Trust, a wonderful organisation that helps a great deal of dogs get rehomed.
They never put a healthy dog down and I love the amazing work they do, the education they give out all for dog's health and happiness.

I give to the PDSA, which is a very special charity that helps people on low incomes with vet treatment for their animals.
There are PDSA hospitals dotted around the country and all funded by donations, no government help, so it really is super important to help them.
Without them the people on lower incomes could not afford to take their pets to the vets, so those animals would suffer, die or end up in a shelter, so it really is close to my heart to help them.
What I would like to do is create a line of goods (handmade) where all the profits made go to these charities I have mentioned and more animal charities. I would love to fundraise too. I have a few ideas. I'm just getting started.

In What  other ways can we do our bit to help animal Charity's?

I am a big advocator of using cruelty free products.
I won't go into details but animals are tested on in such vile ways!
;~;
So I use natural ingredients in my home to clean it, like Vinegar, bicarbonate of soda etc.
I make my own products many times.
I educate others about it on my blog and I support The Hadwen Trust, a very special trust that fights for humane non animal medical testing.
They do such fantastic work, really worth giving support to, if you care for animals.

Tell us, when did you start getting into crafting?

I sadly fell ill with Fibromyalgia a decade ago, so couldn't work. I have a very active mind so crafting was a pefect way to occupy my mind/hands and keep me out of mischeif!
Clay and felt were my first mediums. I made all fake food related items, like cupcakes, chocolates etc.

When was the 1st time you came across the word Kawaii and when did
you fall in love with Kawaii fake faces with Kawaii expressions?

I first came accross it (the word kawaii ) about 9 years ago online, along with "sweet lolita" and "Japan" etc, I then found out all about the wondeful cuteness of Japan, with all the sweet "food with faces" fake food jewellery and sweetness of fashions, which at the time was a huge relief from all the over sexual images in popular culture.
The sweet ruffles, cute smiles, knee high socks, it all was very "me" I fell in love with it all. I didn't want to look "sexy" I wanted to look "cute" It aligned with who I was perfectly.

Do you like any anime or anime films?

I love Anime! My favorite is Spirited Away...My Neighbor Totoro and Ponyo. I have a lot of anime I am yet to see though!
I find the animation just beautiful, real eye candy and the stories are magical. They are a great way to escape into fantasy worlds. I just adore them.

Tell me what is your favourite Colour?

My most favorite colour is turquoise. I love it as a hair colour, in clothing, to look at I find it very calming.

Where do you see your self in the next 5 years?

In the next five years I would be thrilled if I had created a line of handmade goods for charity that sell well.
I would love to be doing very well with fundraising.
I would also love to be moved to Brighton by then too.
I would love to be illustrating by then.
Whatever I do and wherever I am in five years.
I and sure it will be where I am supposed to be.

Oh my you are going to be very busy then !
What would you like to achieve one day and what's you biggest Dream?

I have many dreams! I would love to be able to illustrate, be a graphic designer.
My passionate dream is to really make a difference to animals somehow.
I want to make a difference in the world!

Peach you have so much passion for your animals, nothing makes me sad hearing about all those Kawaii animals have no voice to stand up to the abuse and treatment they have to go through.
TT_TT
So Lets give what we can to some charity's that Peach Nia Supports!
