Kawaii Christmas Inspiration

I for one like to put up my christmas tree just after we enter December and enjoy dressing it up each year. My blog was known for its post of the Hello Kitty tree I dressed a few years back and it still to this day circles the interwebs.

However over the years I have moved away from it as every one also jumped on the wagon with themed trees. Last year I just made my tree pretty, this year I would like to make it super cute and girly!  So I thought I would post up some cute girly kawaii ideas here on my blog to inspire every one who reads my blog. I may even film myself dressing the dress and show you all how fussy I am when it comes to my christmas tree which was upgraded to a 6ft one last year !

Any way lets check out some inspiring decorations that are way to cute!
I adore PINK trees! However if you do not have a pink tree do not worry you can still decorate a white tree in pink. Or maybe pink is not your thing, you could always go crazy with rainbow pastel shades! Don't worry if you have a small tree you can still be super creative with a smaller one as well.

Don't forget about decorations as well, These cones could be any colour! But the baby pink looks so adorable.

When it comes to decorations you can use the same ones that you would dress a tree to make your own creative pieces , such as adding them into jars, or on cake display stands maybe even making your own style of garland make with left over decorations. Doing some DIY at Christmas can be fun as well.

As well as theses really cute and colourful ideas you can find lots more on sites such as Pinterest or on google as a search on the images search too.
What plans do you have for christmas this year, Do you enjoy the run up and the decorations that can be super cute as well. Let me know in the comments below.  My link for my pin board is here.

Thoughts on Venus - Kawaii make up

Hey every one- Happy new year!
Its 2015 and am starting it with a bang, I will be away on holiday . But I will tell you all-l about it when am back.
I wanted to do a post on Lime crime's new ( well newish) Pallet of eye shadow Venus. I been following lime crime for a bitty now and really liked using the lippys and the other ones the velvetines.
(see my past post here!)
So after seeing the newest pallet be announced and then see the colours I was rather excited, I awaited the date and time like a hawk for its release. I got mine in the basket right away online as quickly it went up it was out of stock.  I felt very lucky to now mine was shipped and on its way.

So what attracted me to this. well in a word ,shade-  the colours they look like natural shades but with a twist. They look rusty and warm and so pretty. I never used any colours like this before nor do I now how to use them so I was pretty worried looking like some 5 year old kid let loose in a make up department.
As well these were not the sorta shades for my own style - being Kawaii and all these were more for Grunge 90's looks but I liked them so much. I figured who cares!?

So once my order came, it cost me $42 by the way, yup I took a splurge here and it was about $10 for shipping too. I was pretty happy it came in a white box and inside it was all decorative with logos and flowers and my order was neatly wrapped. I have had no issues with shipping or ordering from Limecrime direct. Shipping took a while but it was coming form the USA - am being honest here.

Personally I really do not like the box, Venus on it bugs me-its not my taste and its not very Kawaii but hey we can not win it all now can we?
So with the box design art not winning any points from me you do get a mirror inside which is handy and its is a nice size not to bulky either. Moving on the colours , I LOVE EM, they are so modern and pretty I love them all apart from Muse, Muse and I don't get along to well. Maybe am using it wrong but its rather harsh looking. Every other shade is great and the Venus, Rebirth and Aura are my personal fave's.
Easy to apply and blend to create the styles and looks you want, you can use em together to made other shades too. I use Icon a lot for my brows too.  They are long lasting and more so with the help of the use of primer any brand I use both Limecrime and urban decay.  Lots of pigment and rather eye catching- I got a lot of comments when wearing these. Don't worry nice ones lol.
I did have a hunt for a dupe pallet for these but nothing turned up but I did find Sauce Box- forbidden fruits is a great pallet to complement Venus in your collection of eye shadows. I found that more and most Pallets of natural shades look very cool and tones are cold which do not go well with my slightly olive complexion. (imo- as i am no make up expert here lol!) Outta ten am giving this a big nine! It looses a point for that art deco thing going on the front of the box but I guess it makes it easy to find in the make up drawer!

Have you used Limecrime Venus yet or is it on your wish list?
Keep it Kawaii!!
Tartan xoxo

How to stay Kawaii , Positive and Optimistic

Hey every one, am sorry I have not been about on my blog much . It's been a month or something like that.
I wanted to do this post though cause I have not really been feeling, well myself. Both from being un well and emotionally all over the place. It can be super hard being so optimistic all the time and all so positive. I do my very best to encourage others to also keep their chin up and always there if any one needs me. But looks like I burnt the candle at both end of the stick!  My bad.
I guess when you have dreams and goals to reach you get dis-hearted when you see others surpassing you, even though I am a firm believer in ''things happen for a reason.'' Anyway leaving all that gloomy-ness aside I thought I would share the things I do when I get a bit low in my moods and need to pick myself up. Maybe some of these can help you too?! It's worth a shot anyway, Right?

How to stay Kawaii, positive and optimistic.

Some times life can take its ups and downs and can leave you feeling down, it can effect you in so many ways some get depressed others feel down right awful. It's okay it is human nature for that to happen , we all go through it at some point in our life. When I find myself feeling down,I take myself out of the situations and find a quite place - often my bedroom- and remind myself how damm lucky I am and that somewhere there is others who are not as blessed as me. And I count my blessings from my health , having a roof over my head and a wonderful cute little family.

Then I firmly tell myself its time to'' Man up Princess!!'' I then will go and do something as if I was to take on the world one step at the time from taking a bath or go and give myself a face mask, cause you gotta look good taking on the the world right. This will include using am beauty products and skin care mixed with my Kawaii pampering products, but of course!

Those 2 steps alone can snap right out of it but if that don't work . I move on to the next step...this is a great one, turning on your most up beat CD, in my case its my Kyary Pon Pon albums. Turn up the sound and dance and sing along like no one can hear or see me. ( may be a good thing I would hate to embarrassed any poor soul to be subject to that!) Might sound crazy but it and shift a mood pretty quickly.

The other things that I find help is picking a bright colour to wear may it be in my outfit or layering on a accessories and not giving a damm about what any one things, as in one of those days you put on those crazy like earring on that do not match and damm thing in your wardrobe but your wearing it anyway and it makes you happy- It makes you feel like its your armour. Or picking that lippy that clearly you know damm well fine that it is not matching your skin tone-lol- but gurl your wearing it regardless cause you need that pick me up, so just go for it!
Taking a walk has a great uplifting effect but when its pretty wet outside I retreat to my Kawaii room where I throw myself on top of my 4ft Doughnut (rubber ring pool toy- random I know lol) and surround myself with my cute and Kawaii stuff and have a huff or a sulk because we are only human and every one needs a good huff every so often, Chibi bean is the queen of huffs and then I change my thoughts on being thankful for all the wonderful things I have. Some times you have to put things back into perspective

Lastly the other thing I do it smile, keep on smiling and then get back up dust off the dirt . Grab some glitter and throw it around and get back to your working on those dreams and goals, Some times set backs and obstacles get in the way to test how strong we are. But even though it hurts, upsets or annoys us at the time if it didn't test us then it we would not appreciate  the dreams and goals when we get finally do get them.

Doing these things* , even repeating them over and over and snapping out of feeling down helps me... Maybe some of these things might help you. Or even just knowing that even myself can not be ultra - super - kawaii every day of the year might help you. Every one has ups and downs but you can do it!

 I believe in you!

*if any of you think you suffer from low moods or depression in any way or form please seek out your local doctor . Or find some one you trust to talk to about your feelings *

How to be Kawaii- Being a Kawaii Mummy

Hey every cutie. Today am going to open up a bit,to you all about being a mummy.
Not just any mummy but a Kawaii one! Becoming a Mummy was the most exciting thing for me and I was blessed with a little baby girl on Christmas day, 2010. She was not planned for Christmas , it sorta just happened that she was a bit late. Teehee. As most of you know, I refer to her as 'Chibi'.  Meaning-'' little or small person'' in Japanese. This post is a bit of a mix of stuff for you and your little ones.

Being a Mummy has it's challenges. Its tough, its the hardest job in the world. Lots of Hard work, stressful moments of tantrums and there can be a lot of tears, Oh and don't forget the lack of sleep! But its worth every moment. ( Maybe not at the time when your little on is throwing the toys out the cott or wearing his or hers dinner instead of eating it.) huhuh ..

How to be a Kawaii Mummy- its not that hard really! If you are into Kawaii stuff already it makes things a lot easier! The most important thing I think of is - Can I make it Kawaii or do it come in a Kawaii version?

Hints and tips

Think about the stage that your child is at and adapt kawaii that will fit in that stage, I found when they are new born its not the most easiest  time to be a Kawaii mummy! Why? Mainly lack of sleep no one feels cute when they are super tired.I didn't really bother much at this stay but I did add Kawaii in the form of things such as Kawaii looking Change bags or niffy gadgets that were decorated in Kawaii Characters, Decorating baby's room in cute things. The biggest thing I did was having toys in Japanese Kawaii characters for baby to explore. As well as playing Totoro on DVD instead of  normal kids TV for a change. Totoro is Chibi's most loved film - that and Spirited away.

When Baby gets to toddler and the pre-school age. ( where mummy-hood ease's off and you finally get back a full nights sleep again.)Things get more interesting because you really have lots of fun at this stage! They start to get really interesting and independent. Am loving this stage and since I have brought Chibi bean up around Kawaii items and such she can identify the difference between Kawaii ( Japanese cute) and Cute. She knows most of the Kawaii characters and loves to watch Sailor Moon.

Fashion and accessories

Being cute is not just for your little ones, check out high street shops for Hello Kitty and other Kawaii characters to dress you and your little chibi's up with. It can be oneies for those lazy days off nursery or matching outfits inspired from J-fashions, Yup you can even get from Bodyline Lolita for little ones too! And its super easy to find even Pastel and Fairy Kei items for them. Nyaa it great to dress up and have fun! Oh and don't forget about your Kawaii matching accessories some times the Children sections are much more fun to pick out items.

Don't give up on your personal fashions when you become a mummy, If you enjoy your fashion then wear it. However when it comes to going to meet other mummies, at places such as Toddler groups, Nursery and Pre- school, You will find as I have, you stand out slightly. I find that I tone down my Kawaii-ness. However my love for Hello Kitty has not gone un-noticed, the other kids know me for being the mummy who loves Hello kitty ,teeheee!!

I dont wear my j-fashion styles for nursery runs or play dates. Instead I will come up with other ideas by wearing bright colours or use a Kawaii Character hand bag. Fun cute shoes (weather permitted.) Wear cute tops , if I am not in the mood for that I wear my bright Cat hats that can fold the ears down so its not so in your face. When out and about shopping I do look for both toned down items and over the top ones for the days. Heehee!  Nail polish and fake deco-den nails are something that you can easily do. Or why not shock on lookers with a new hair do and wear a wig! I also found wearing wigs were great when you had a sleepless night and had no time to even look at a chance of getting a shower.

Other Mummy Hint and Tips.
  • No matter what keep smiling a smile always makes you super cute.
  • Try and make things Kawaii or cute , if your stuck for ideas hop online and search things like Kawaii food ideas or fun cute ideas for children.
  • Look for Kawaii or similar cute Characters on everything from umbrellas to accessories  for your little ones and  matching ones for you!
  • Do fun and cute things like making cute cupcakes or going out for after-noon tea in your best J-fashion outfits together.
  • Encourage your little ones to be cute and act polite and sweet.
  • Introduce them to the Kawaii things you like, anime, games, characters, J-music ect.The list goes on and on here.
  • Look for things online likes of baby stuff from over seas to get the ultimate Kawaii change/ nappy bag and accessories for baby's. Pick Kawaii items over dull looking ones from Rainbow shaped pillows and colourful bed throws.
  • Always keep in mind and a eye out for pratical cute/ Kawaii  stuff too!

I hope you enjoyed a bit of a insight of being a Kawaii mummy and the things I have done with my my own little chibi. I hope to be able to expand on these topics as my kawaii journey of being a kawaii mummy continues!

Kawaii Mummy-Ideas for little ones fun meal times!

Hello every Cutie and Kawaii mummy out there!
Today I will be letting you into some of my Kawaii secrets for ideas for little ones meals! Yep this is a post for all you kawaii Mummys out there!

Some times it really hard to get our little chibi-cuties to eat their meals - we all have and all will go through this stage or stages of them not wanting what we put in front of them...huhuh. But don't worry its only a phase,So please don't stress your self's out, I found after stressing out over wasted food and tears. That you just have to go with the flow!

So today I thought that I would share these ideas that  would be at least a a few ideas for food for your little chibi's! Am going to start off with the idea to pick super cute cutlery plates and cups too, I have found all cute characters in your local supermarket from Hello kitty to Mickey mouse. It's good to pick the characters your little one knows of to help make it look all about more encouraging and appealing for them to use.

Or why not get it in lots of rainbow colours in your cutlery! We have lots or pretty rainbow shades of forks and knifes in our kitchen drawer that I bought from the seasonal out doors summer sections (plastic picnic sets!) Such a clever idea! This some times really helps encourage little ones to use their own cutlery .

Preparing food-

The other idea I like to do is with the use of being a bit arty and kawaii is with the use of the cookie cutter, you can come up with so many ideas with simple shapes to kawaii character shapes! If you don't have a Cookie cutter even using a scone cake cutter can make circle shapes or why not just cut up the food in to shapes.

Say good bye to dull square toast in the morning's and say 'Hello' to Kitty and some '' Love'' heart Marmite toast- yum! Its me that likes the Marmite

Top- Tip ,If your little chibi is old enough , let them help get meal times ready! It can be very stressful if you are in a hurry but if you can give them the time to help , you may find they enjoy eating something that they have made for them self! It can be as simple as spreading their own toast!

As well as using cookie cutters, mould trays bento rice moulds can all be used to create a interesting looking meal. Why not decorate the meal on the plate and make a picture too?!

Encourage little chibi's to take part in making the pictures however sometimes the cute food pictures might not work so try cutting food up in small pieces or even grate food. And with a bit of imagination, who would say no to a Cheese (Grated) hill. My chibi loves to grate her own cheese.

Making food look fun can make it super Kawaii too! It's all about presentation!

Why not find food stamps with shapes these sandwiches look soo yummy!
Oh and don't forget to cut up the ham, cheese fruit, veggies to go inside the sandwiches too!
You can find lots of ideas form bento box websites and all over the internet , take what you want from the sites and apply it you your own ideas as it do not need to be all about Japanese food, you can pick the foods you and your chibi's love to eat and make them look so cute.
Home pack lunches for the little ones and Kawaii lovers alike will love these ideas or  why not make picnics out and about  kawaii and use bento food pickers or dividers will add lots more fun and cuteness to meals! Oh and dont' forget to make sure your lunch containers are cute looking too!!
For some encouragment for chibis at school pack lunches check these cute memos to add into the lunch box for them Link here!
Till next time!

Kawaii Easter ideas!

Hey every cutie!
Its almost Easter time, where all the shops decorated with spring themes, Easter eggs and chocolate sections are full to the brim and fashion goes to pastel shades.

There is a spring in our step and finally we can feel like wearing cute skirts and tops. Yay! Rabbits Chicks and baby animals are easy to find at this time of year and most of all baby animals are Kawaii .So here are some Easter Kawaii ideas for you all.

Lets being!
Easter decorations, what is else is super cute to dress up your bedrooms and rooms around the house.
I love those flag buntings you can either make or buy with ease. They can be both used for in doors and outside.

You can also be super creative with these as well why not make hanging Easter egg shapes, bunnies or maybe even some cute chicks to have on your bunting instead.

If bunting is maybe not your thing then why not  try stinging decorative kawaii spring items on some string or thread and have them hanging from a window or wall too.

As well as Decorating the house you can easily paint eggs with little ones over the easter holidays to keep them busy and have some fun. Why not make your Easter painted eggs into your kawaii characters from Sanrio and San-X.
Am sure you can come up with very cute and kawaii ideas for painting the eggs, these will make a cute centre piece on the table when you have guests over for Easter Sunday lunch.

Also did you know that you can get cute Easter themed Kawaii goods that you can give as gifts to your loved ones and kawaii friends!
Yep you can find likes of Hello Kitty, Rilakkuma and friends dressed up as the Easter Bunny and even a spring chicken, Kyaaa Kawaii!
What a great gift to give to some one.

Other ideas can be baking , Every one seems to like or enjoy baking at Easter, hot cross buns and many other things too, but you can make those just as Kawaii as anything else. From turning your normal cupcake into a Easter cupcake nest of mini eggs to making your own Kawaii Bunny shaped macaroons! Kyaa!

Oh and dont for get about wrapping up and presenting your gifts and displays with cute coloured gift wrap and picking cute Easter greeting cards too. Or why not have a shot at making your very own Easter bunny rabbit envelopes and letters with the use of Origami and picking pretty paper to leave a lasting impression for all your friends and family!
(You can use the bunny making evelopes as a skill for any birthdays and celebrations too, as they go down a treat like any other hand made gift.) *nods*

Have a Happy Kawaii Easter every one!

How to make your Room Kawaii!

Hey- Hey every Cutie!
Today I am doing a Kawaii-How-To.

How to make your room Kawaii!

Lots of us like to show our kawaii sides with decoration and displaying our cherished items. And these often end up in our bedrooms. Or maybe you want to give your room a cute make over.So today's post is How to make your room Kawaii. Don't worry I will guide you on some ideas and tips for making your new room look kawaii!

  • The very first thing you will want to do is tidy your room, work out what you are keeping and throw out/ recycle any rubbish or clutter. As for things you no longer wish to keep. You could put them up for sales on ebay and or give other stuff to charity. It is best to get everything clean and tidy. Its easy to work around a tidy room than a messy room- haii!
  • You may wish to paint your room or wall paper it for a complete new look this is optional. Picking light colours will also help small rooms look airy and bigger. Or why not paint one wall a cute shade in a pastel colour as a feature wall.Likes of lavender, pinky or mints.
  • If you cant or are not allowed to paint your room, Or wish to have plain coloured walls. Adding a pastel shade roller blind or curtains will help bring colour into the room. Or Find some cute Fabric you like and use that to hang on the walls
  • Keep your furniture in light shades that give off a cute look and airy feel to the room.
  • If you you wish to display photos or pictures on you walls, put them up with blue/white tack that way you can chop and change your stuff around.
  • If you want to be extra kawaii and creative why not obtain a blank cheep poster frame/picture that you can add lots of Kawaii things to it.Thing's such as stickers, images printed from the computer, photos, cut outs, inspirations and you can even use Washi tape to decorate it too.
  • Decorate your bed instantly with a cute throw over with a cute character in it such as Hello Kitty, Rilakkuma or any of your most loved characters. Or even Pick a cute duvet set.
  • Instantly cheer up a empty chair with a Plushie or cute pillow/ cushion. Pillows and even soft toys can make your room look super cute.
  • Bring more light into your room with fairy lights, why not wrap them around you head boards or run them along some shelves.
  • Find a cute rug in colours that will match your room that will give your floor/carpet a new lease of kawaii life.
  • Decorate you things.Such as adding cute and small toys to the top of your computer monitors or PC towers. Will add Charm and Kawaii-ness
  • Display the things you love,That will bring Cute-ness to any room by showing your passion.  May it be using a cute cupcake stand to display your jewellery or empty jars full of  trinkets even finding a display unit for your kawaii collections.
The most important thing about your room is not about filling it with tons of Japanese, Kawaii and cute goods, to out do any other Kawaii love/collector/ fan but to fill it with the things that you love. And Display or Express your creative fun cute side in your own personal space and enjoy it.

Kawaii Room sumbmission sent in from Lovely Laelette of her own Kawaii Room- Its so super cute!

My Photography Adventure- Starts here!

Hey every cutie, I thought I would share with you about my adventure starting in the world and hobby of Photography .

Photography is some thing I have admired and with growing up as a young teen in the work place of hair and fashion,It was some thing that came part and parcel with the job, If there was a contest or a event some one some where had a camera taking photos of the models, even I was the model at these events or an assistant back stage helping the models. It was a thrill! I loved it so much. For those that all know me well, I had to give it all up thanks to the products I was working with every day.  *sighs*

Any how ,some how I had some connection with Photography even been the model a good few times for friends and other photographers. But now its my turn to be the one to create the photos! Yeah!

So after many a long a talk with the hubby who helped me get a loan for my Camera and equipment to start up. I have one workshop under my belt and a good few more to attend this year. (One this month ! )

Ideally I would love to attend a evening class. But until then am doing a self study course. Am also learning lots thanks to the internet and some trial and error. *huhuh*

As well as that I have been changing the spare room aka the kawaii room into a pop up home studio!
I have been doing some DIY , painting some items in white and making sure all my walls are as plain as can be. The more white the better for lighting !

Its so far been lots of fun redoing it up . I got some new white shelf's up that are white too. They should still look cute but I wanted them in white to blend in with the room and and stay hidden behind my back drop too. I am way to excited to place all my Kawaii trinkets and such up on display! Not only that because this is a spare room it also houses chibi's own dressing up box and dressing up table. Which I have a feeling once I do get my Studio set up she will be wanting her own photo shoots done. (Hehehe.)

I also decided to also re paint a old ikea small table I have had for many years. I sanded it down removed some stickers and wall paint from it and given it 3 licks of paint in white, I thought this would make a good table/raised platform to use against a back drop. Its not perfect but it will do for the mean time. Also it looks super cute in white and with everything turning white the room is looking larger too!

So am thinking on delaying on buying a zoom lens just know as I have my main kit. And start working on getting the pieces to put together for the home studio.

Such as lights, Reflectors back drop maybe even some props. Am awaiting on some super kawaii cushions to use in props and to decorate my room! haha.

So with all of this going on from the end of this month my dairy is full of events to go to ,I hope to get many photos and pictures. Also I will  to get a very important shoot sorted out and  together with the Marshmallow Dreams maids - a pop up maid cafe full of cute maids at a event in Scotland near you! I will be working closely with this group over the next year or so!  I really can not wait !

so am going to leave some photos of my wish list on my blog post here, to keep me inspired to work hard to get my home studio up and running !

Later's,
Tartan <3
