How to dress Kawaii- casual everyday style

Making your style or outfit more Kawaii, for me comes naturally. Also it can be pretty easy adding simple things to your outfit for that little flare of Kawaii and one of my biggest Kawaii tips is taking an regular outfit that you love and then look to accessories and see how you can use them to change a outfit.

Of course this totally depends in what you wear ! Maybe you are into lolita or fairy kei fashion or maybe you are a cyber goth. So I guess you can apply these suggestions to your own style. I will be using my own style ,which I call Kawaii Fashion - cause I find its a bit of a mix of all kinds and I like to try other styles out as well so best to keep it all under the one umbrella, right?
So lets pick a few things.Well you want your basics and work from there , My basics will be tops, vests, maybe even a jumper depending on the weather, even if am not dressed for an event and its a normal school day. I will take the basic tops and jeans and add kawaii to it. Cause its how I roll.So lets make the example a school run example for us older mature Kawaii lovers. To be honest not many are gona see your outfit cause its gona be covered by your jacket ,even in May there is days am in full waterproofs like I just came back in form the morning catch of fishing with all this wet weather! That aside it really don't matter who see's it, right?

Kawaii style is for every one and still be cute in casual outfits. For me being a 20 something. On the school run. Monday to Friday in all kinds of weather and marching through the fields of muddy puddles, the long grass  and keeping the house  running smoothly all day . Well it some times requires a dress down day so here is a great sample of being really cute but low key !

so here is my run down. I will pick a jumper, at this time I have a thing for pastels and I have a few jumpers that are 3/4 sleeves that have polka dots on them. I think they were about £3 each in Primark last year in the sale. (WIN!) So I have those. Am just gona steal a image from the internet for a visual for you all. (see above.)My Jumpers are more a less the same but no bow - I really want on with a bow!

Right so next I will layer a blouse under this jumper , It can be plain one that has a pop shade of colour or maybe a clash of print , I have some which have lips on them or even hearts which are pretty cute.  Then the last basic make up of the outfit would be in my case Jeans. But you could use a skirt or something like shorts with tights. It's up to you really. I would pick my Jeans and I try and get coloured jeans or washed pastel jeans. Over all you would be left wearing something like this image here. Of course all my images are just samples but pick the colours that work well together.
So far it looks pretty cute . A really simple but Kawaii outfit that you can wear everyday, May it be your day off, a Casual day from wearing OTT Kawaii or Japanese fashion . This is a perfect outfit for them days where you might not want to be crazy in style and can go about your day. I love these fun cute looks that any one can do by buying from high street buys or even online. To add to this  kind of outfit on those days I will pick some funky but Kawaii earrings or some kind of statement necklace to add that pinch of Kawaii ! Such as some cute pom pom earring from Frilly Pops on Esty.

Or anther Idea is something such as Collar clips , maybe a cute set of kittens on the tips of the collar to make your outfit even cuter. Oh and don't forget about Necklaces and Rings as well!

What do you wear as a everyday sort of style. Or do you dress up every day no matter what? What is the Kawaii fashion trends you are loving right know? I will be posting my next Kawaii Style post very soon! So watch this space!

Kawaii is not just one type of Fashion or Colour Pallet

Hey every cutie, am sure that all of you know that ,Kawaii is used in many kinds of fashions.

source Google
But have you noticed it gets more of an association on more fashions than others, Lets focus on J-Fashions, There is so many kinds and many sub fashions. But have you noticed once  these reach out of Japan and slowly make their way to the UK there is  are only a few main ones that stand out and some even stay in the UK. Some times Trends come this way but they don't last as long as they do every where else.

source Tumblr

Am gonna pick a few like of Sweet Lolita, Fairy Kei and say Hime Gyaru. Okay so I may or may not have picked  some fashions there because they are all often have the use of Pastel shades.
It did not take long for then Pastel shades to also become kawaii, I have no issue with that at all. These colours and styles seem to be a bit more accepted in the alternative fashions and in the UK, But what about all the other  brighter

Fashions. I wonder if  and why they are being left out?
With so many styles getting more attention that other ones ,you often find these  Lighter colours will come up on a Google search more often and tagged a lot more on tumblr, than the other colours, I guess I wanted to share that Kawaii is not just one Colour Pallet or shades, its every shade and Pallet. Its also can be in every fashion and style.

I wanted to do a post on more colourful , brighter and more Creative styles of Kawaii. Personally I wonder why many do not wear these sort of fashions -

Is it because the UK in fashion and in the public eye, is not very brave to stand out and be Brighter. Is it because we are to wear dull colours to work/school and get so comfortable that we forget about a splash of colour? Or are we scared to stand out from the crowd and be different? Are we scared to look like we are clown's escaped from a circus? Can we wear Kawaii and Bright Colours together? Maybe we are to mature to wear something that might look childish to on lookers which is why Pastels are easier to wear and not stand out as much.

I know am very lucky to be able to wear what I want  more a less every day but even I find I end up wearing darker colours at times.

But because I have made a promise to be more colourful in outfits and more kawaii maybe my post here might inspire you. Its also very easy to do is well ! But let's get some inspiration form the streets of Japan where I think we can at least pick a few ideas and adapt them to our own styles.

I guess most inspiration comes from Harajuku Fashion trends, then adapts its way into other fashions. I can imagen that there is new and wonderful ideas coming from there all the time. I love seeing the styles that are colourful in primary shades of colour (Red Blue and Yellow btw.)

There is lots of over the top and layering in some Kawaii fashions but you don't have to do this you can make your outfits kawaii in a simple way and can you can bring in brighter colours with this too.

Mixing styles together is so much fun too. What about Pastel shades with Street styles or Adding brighter tones to your normal Lolita wardrobe? Do you have any crazy accessories or items that you could easily use or even re-vamp to use. DIY Kawaii and hand made are a huge thing over in Japan fashions too.

What do you think? Do you think Bold colours will make a come back. Do you think Bright colours are Kawaii or not? What are your thoughts is Kawaii limited to only girly pastel shades or your imagination is the limit .

But remember , Wear what you enjoy wearing.

Hi there Kaila chan I'm very excited to have you be in my Blog interview,
I am a bit of a fan of yours and your blog!
so I am feeling a bit star stuck
*@__@*

Can you tell us when you started to reach your dreams and why?

I started to make a move when I finally took Japanese language lessons every Saturday during my sophomore year in college. I was just starting with my major subjects back then so it was really stressful for me but thankfully, I still managed to learn the basics of Nihongo. My older brother who has been living in Japan for almost 8 or 9 years would be biggest influencer in making me so decided that I should pursue my "Japanese dream". My family and I all witnessed how my brother established himself in a country so foreign and so out-of-reach for a struggling family like us.

He really inspired me a lot that is why even though I had to finish four years of university first (got my first Japanse visa rejected along the way), I really went 1000% in reaching this dream. I tried applying for scholarships, etc. but I failed all of those huhuhu.
We both come from a big family that had a lot of drama (my dad was fired from his job, my mom had illness, one of my brothers got severely depressed) and I learned and matured a lot from that.. and I guess you can tell that my darkest days as a child / teenage really shaped me to be this optimistic / "gambatteru hito" (always doing her best) person.
 I'm a tough girl!

^__^
(We are glad you are a tough girl with a kawaii heart  it makes you, well you <3 )

What inspired you to make a Blog to share your adventures?

Actually, I started Rainbowholic around a year or so before I went to Japan. I used to own another personal website (which I started when I was 14? 15?) then moved to Rainbowholic afterwards. When I was in college, I tried my best updating it regularly but my course (Advertising Management) really took all of my time.... so I thought I should just wait for the day when I could finally see Japan in my own eyes. After that, I had a lot of good experiences and funny discoveries here in the land of the rising sun and I couldn't stop sharing about those! I got a lot of positive feedback and those really encouraged me to bring Japan closer to my readers and make them feel that they are also with me with my photo-heavy posts.

What do you love the most about living in Japan and how would you describe it?

There are so many good things about living in Japan but what I love most about Japan would be-- safety.
If ever you accidentally leave your bag/wallet in a train or somewhere else,Japanese people in general would not even bother to take it home.. instead, they would return it to the train staff. Also, walking alone in the middle of the night is not a scary thing to do... if it were another place, you can encounter robbers, snatchers or even rapists..? "
@_@

What would you recommend to any one to go see if they went to Japan?

Of course, I would recommend them to visit HARAJUKU!! It's the most interesting place in Tokyo because you can experience traditional Japan by visiting the Meiji shrine and witness the latest fashion trends in Takeshita Dori.

(*Takes notes*)

What the most Fun DIY-Kawaii thing you have made and what was the most challenging ?

The most fun DIY-Kawaii / Kawaii DIY would be the Rainbowholic Kuruma-chan (Kuruma=car)!
It's craaaazy!

image belongs to Rainbowholic

(Here is a photo! I love this Car @_@)

I love your Kawaii wheels that you used as a project can you tell us more about it?

About the kawaii wheels / Rainbowholic Kuruma-chan, it's actually a big group effort between my brother + our friends and me.
Since I've been doing an all-out promotion for Rainbowholic, we figured we should do something people have not witnessed before.
My brother and his wife even went back to Philippines to purchase the cheaper reflector stickers / decals because having our own design / itasha made would cost us 500% more or something like that. For less than a week, we worked on the car every single night until sunrise (since it was so HOT during summer afternoons)… and after we finished it, we had a Rainbowholic Ruckus parade in Harajuku~!

Link: See HERE!

I heard your hoping to adopt a puppy has that progressed any further?

Actually, I was very disappointed because the small dog that I wanted wasn't available any more when I applied. :"( I'd still consider adopting a puppy in the future but it would still require monetary means and currently.. I'm broke (spent it on a Hongkong trip >_<). But yeah, I still dream of owning a chocolate toy poodle!!

(KAWAII!!!!!)

Aww I hope you get your Dream puppy soon!
What's the sweetest thing a Fan has done for you and the oddest?

All of my readers are sweet but the sweetest thing that one did would be sending me a package full of letters how I had inspired her + handmade goodies and souvenirs from places she went.
It was very touching that I weeped! Haha~

As for the oddest, I don't think I have received any odd gift yet.. :P

(Aww how sweet ^__^)

Who would you say your fashion inspiration comes from?

My fashion inspiration comes from many Japanese-related influences
(such as the kawaii character + oldskool anime culture).. also, whenever I browse through Japanese magazines such as Kera or Popteen, I also get inspiration from those.
My fashion style is very moody so for me, it's a bit hard to tell where I really get inspired from.

What up coming projects can you share with us?

The new Rainbowholic website that I've been preparing for a month! Watch out for that since I'll be doing the coding on my own :D

(Is excited to see this,Maybe you could revamp my Blog..hehe)

Is there any other places in the world you would like to visit?

I would love to visit Paris, Seoul, Bangkok… and the list goes on! I plan to travel around the world someday =)

What your animes and mangas at the moment?

I started ONE PIECE a few months ago but I had to pause it for a while because.. it's bad for productivity hahaha.
I used to read manga's but now, I love watching Korean dramas and movie's more (yep!).

What fashion trends do you predict that may reach over my way?(UK USA EURO)

I think that tattoo tights would be the next big trend there (haven't seen many Western look book-ers wearing those tights).
(You know I think we will be seeing those tights very soon too!)

Where do you see your self in the next few years?

In the next few years, Rainbowholic may become an actual brand / shop here in Tokyo. Seems impossible but every dream is an insane one anyway. Hehe~

And what other Dreams would you like to reach for ?

I would love to become a creative entrepreneur or a boss of my own in the future.
My ultimate dream is to go home / travel every now and then without worrying for my air plane fare.

Thank you so much for giving us some of your Kawaii time Kaila-Chan,
I am really looking forward to all your new adventures!

You can all keep up with Kaila aka Rainbowholic giving her some Twitter Love and catch up on Rainbowholic Facebook.

Stay super Kawaii
