How to be Kawaii- with a budget!

Hey every cutie!
Today am going to talk about .How to be Kawaii- on a budget! Some times buying Kawaii items ends up totalling up and becomes expensive, really quickly.  And not all the time we find our saved up money can buy all our Kawaii goodies we would like. I have a bit of a large collection of kawaii items, goods and such but it do take time to build on making a collection .The Kawaii life is a hard one . heh.  So I put together some hints and tips together for you .

Budget-
Budget your spending and put money aside every month for buying Kawaii things and while you are at it save a little up every month too. Pop it all in a cute Kawaii piggy bank to keep you motivated to save up for some thing really special and Kawaii.

Time-
It takes time to build up on getting Kawaii things, don't blow all your money at once! Take your time. Talking of time, shopping at the right time can be a benefit as well.
Yus! Am talking about sales and holiday seasonal items sales too. Some of my own Kawaii things are really old so it can take a while to build up a kawaii collection. It takes time so its worth spending money wisely and watch out for fake brand products too! Remember also sometimes its better to pick quality over quantity.

Shopping-
When you are out shopping and you need something new or replacements think about it? Can I buy this in a Kawaii version?
Like a new cute tooth brush or cute storage boxes. What about home goods like pillows, duvet covers or even cute make up accessories, eye masks and lip balms in cute shades and sweet kawaii flavours?!

Just think before you buy .
1. Can I get it cheaper ? (so you can save more in your kawaii savings)
2. Can I get it in a Kawaii version?( some times the Kawaii version is cheaper!?)
3. Think Kawaii , Kawaii, Kawaii for everything!

Kawaii tip~ Check out 2nd hand shops and charity shops for cheep kawaii treasures!

Kawaii tip~ Don't forget about telling your family and friends you like Kawaii stuff and show them what you like it will help give them ideas for special occasions when they are stuck for ideas!

Online shopping-
You can buy so much online and looking for cute items and kawaii ones is not hard.Watch out for hidden shipping fees and custom charges when shopping, or try looking on sales groups online for cute things or even online trades. You might even be lucky and have a friend over seas that might be able to pick up Kawaii items to do a box swap with every so often!( Please be careful when giving out any personal information.) I will check out Asian web sites first and then hunt them down on a UK or world wide shipping website for the same item and compare prices and shipping when I shop kawaii !! - anther top kawaii tip!

Kawaii tip ~Sign up for a monthly Kawaii Club box from Keep it Secret and get a box of Kawaii goodies sent to your door every month!

Make your self-
If its to much to buy then why not have a go at making it your self? You can find lots of Kawaii DIY online tutorials to get you started and might even become a new hobby in sewing and crafts or be able to make up your own new ideas of cute things.

Kawaii tip- Why not re vamp dull looking things with Kawaii deco-den and accessories!

As I have said it takes time and money to get into kawaii stuff, from collection cute items to wearing cute fashions, its all about shopping about, thinking about what works best and budgets! Also keep in mind that even having a room full of cute things will not automatically transform you into a magical kawaii person! Sometimes the one thing that makes us super kawaii is a very simple but priceless smile! So don't forget to smile too!

Hope you like the post every one! Stay Cute.

A Yume Kanzanshi review.- Hair accessiores

Hello every cutie! I hope you are all well and happy- happy Kawaii!
Today I have a sponsored review from a very elegant company called Yume Kanzanshi. But I think I shall explain a little more on what a Kanzashi is. A Kanzashi is a traditional hair ornament or to me and you a hair accessory used in traditional Japanese hairstyles and was once thought to ward off evil spirits ~eek! .  These hair accessories are worn by (not limited to) geisha and maiko in Japan. They are very pretty and beautiful pieces and  if like me you are enchanted by the traditional side of Japan and the beautiful charming geisha.
Am sure you will very much like my review with a hint of Kawaii! Important links you will need are these Facebooktumblr and the link to the Yume Kanzashi Shop.

I got a lovely parcel in the post from Yume Kanzanshi whom is a friend of mine. She has a deep passion for all things from Japan and puts it all into her work of her items she sells.
You can find the most elegant looking pieces fit for a bride to be to a princess and each item is handmade. Or  why not take a look at the colourful Kawaii range of hair accessories.

Here is the item, oh my gosh is soo pretty! This photo makes it look small but its a fair size when you see it in your hair. It is made of a Sky Blue fabric and has coloured sports all over it on the print as well as my most favourite things to eat Macarons!
In the centre of the main flower, at the top is a cute pearl with a elegant attachment  to the fabric with give it a lovely touch. The Back of this Kanzanshi is 2 fittings, One being a alligator grip and the other like a pin , seen in the photo.

This piece at the back is firmly secured on to the accessory . The great thing about having two attachments to the accessory is how versatile it can become.  Below are my photos of it on a medium length wig  and the other on one of my blazer style jacket. You really could use this in many different ways .

I already have plans with outfits to wear this with so if you are interested in seeing my outfit ideas and my other photos you can find me on instagram! Instagram link
I hope you like my review, I suggest you check out Yuma Kanzashi and her up coming designs that she is working on and has planned, one other item in the shop are these pretty necklaces all handmade.

Till next time!

How to be Kawaii- Being a Kawaii Mummy

Hey every cutie. Today am going to open up a bit,to you all about being a mummy.
Not just any mummy but a Kawaii one! Becoming a Mummy was the most exciting thing for me and I was blessed with a little baby girl on Christmas day, 2010. She was not planned for Christmas , it sorta just happened that she was a bit late. Teehee. As most of you know, I refer to her as 'Chibi'.  Meaning-'' little or small person'' in Japanese. This post is a bit of a mix of stuff for you and your little ones.

Being a Mummy has it's challenges. Its tough, its the hardest job in the world. Lots of Hard work, stressful moments of tantrums and there can be a lot of tears, Oh and don't forget the lack of sleep! But its worth every moment. ( Maybe not at the time when your little on is throwing the toys out the cott or wearing his or hers dinner instead of eating it.) huhuh ..

How to be a Kawaii Mummy- its not that hard really! If you are into Kawaii stuff already it makes things a lot easier! The most important thing I think of is - Can I make it Kawaii or do it come in a Kawaii version?

Hints and tips

Think about the stage that your child is at and adapt kawaii that will fit in that stage, I found when they are new born its not the most easiest  time to be a Kawaii mummy! Why? Mainly lack of sleep no one feels cute when they are super tired.I didn't really bother much at this stay but I did add Kawaii in the form of things such as Kawaii looking Change bags or niffy gadgets that were decorated in Kawaii Characters, Decorating baby's room in cute things. The biggest thing I did was having toys in Japanese Kawaii characters for baby to explore. As well as playing Totoro on DVD instead of  normal kids TV for a change. Totoro is Chibi's most loved film - that and Spirited away.

When Baby gets to toddler and the pre-school age. ( where mummy-hood ease's off and you finally get back a full nights sleep again.)Things get more interesting because you really have lots of fun at this stage! They start to get really interesting and independent. Am loving this stage and since I have brought Chibi bean up around Kawaii items and such she can identify the difference between Kawaii ( Japanese cute) and Cute. She knows most of the Kawaii characters and loves to watch Sailor Moon.

Fashion and accessories

Being cute is not just for your little ones, check out high street shops for Hello Kitty and other Kawaii characters to dress you and your little chibi's up with. It can be oneies for those lazy days off nursery or matching outfits inspired from J-fashions, Yup you can even get from Bodyline Lolita for little ones too! And its super easy to find even Pastel and Fairy Kei items for them. Nyaa it great to dress up and have fun! Oh and don't forget about your Kawaii matching accessories some times the Children sections are much more fun to pick out items.

Don't give up on your personal fashions when you become a mummy, If you enjoy your fashion then wear it. However when it comes to going to meet other mummies, at places such as Toddler groups, Nursery and Pre- school, You will find as I have, you stand out slightly. I find that I tone down my Kawaii-ness. However my love for Hello Kitty has not gone un-noticed, the other kids know me for being the mummy who loves Hello kitty ,teeheee!!

I dont wear my j-fashion styles for nursery runs or play dates. Instead I will come up with other ideas by wearing bright colours or use a Kawaii Character hand bag. Fun cute shoes (weather permitted.) Wear cute tops , if I am not in the mood for that I wear my bright Cat hats that can fold the ears down so its not so in your face. When out and about shopping I do look for both toned down items and over the top ones for the days. Heehee!  Nail polish and fake deco-den nails are something that you can easily do. Or why not shock on lookers with a new hair do and wear a wig! I also found wearing wigs were great when you had a sleepless night and had no time to even look at a chance of getting a shower.

Other Mummy Hint and Tips.
  • No matter what keep smiling a smile always makes you super cute.
  • Try and make things Kawaii or cute , if your stuck for ideas hop online and search things like Kawaii food ideas or fun cute ideas for children.
  • Look for Kawaii or similar cute Characters on everything from umbrellas to accessories  for your little ones and  matching ones for you!
  • Do fun and cute things like making cute cupcakes or going out for after-noon tea in your best J-fashion outfits together.
  • Encourage your little ones to be cute and act polite and sweet.
  • Introduce them to the Kawaii things you like, anime, games, characters, J-music ect.The list goes on and on here.
  • Look for things online likes of baby stuff from over seas to get the ultimate Kawaii change/ nappy bag and accessories for baby's. Pick Kawaii items over dull looking ones from Rainbow shaped pillows and colourful bed throws.
  • Always keep in mind and a eye out for pratical cute/ Kawaii  stuff too!

I hope you enjoyed a bit of a insight of being a Kawaii mummy and the things I have done with my my own little chibi. I hope to be able to expand on these topics as my kawaii journey of being a kawaii mummy continues!

Clouds and Hearts- Branded Kitty shop review*!

Hello every cutie how are you all today?
Today I am reviewing 2 super cute items for you. From the shop *Branded Kitty*. A online Asian fashion site. Its full of super kawaii items and I can not wait to show you the items I have got to review.
I found this show via instagram and then Facebook. So here are all the links that you need...

Branded Kitty have a lot to pick from and there is many cute pieces that you can help but fall in love with.
The offer you world wide shipping at a flat rate of $15 USD that's just under £9 for us in the uk. And your order is shipped in one parcel so no need to wait on separate parcels in the post.

The website is clear, pretty to look at and easy to navigate. The photos of stock are also very clear and there is a range of clothing, accessories and circle lens. There is a lot of things to look at and check out. I got my order and it took about 2 weeks to get to the UK. My order came in one parcel and  this is how my items arrived  both wrapped in clear plastic bags of their own.
Stock image
When you order ,remember to check your size'z in cm instead of inches. Most items are only in one size or free size. I picked 2 items one being the top seen in the above image.

The top came as it as it is seen in the stock photo , I really liked the street style feel that this top has with the stripes on the sleeves and it looked very casual. I don't own much white, only a few tops.
What really attracted me to this was the hearts on the top . Way Kawaii!!  The other thing that I love about this top is that is very soft to touch . Nothing beats a soft cute top to make up outfits with.
Stock image
The other item I picked was this super doper cute skirt! I picked this skirt as I was looking for a nice pale denim coloured style. When I saw this in the order I was so happy it looked just as cute as the stock image on the web site. Mind you the skirt was crushed  - so it needs a iron. Teehee!

I was delighted to see the print was a cute print of clouds! Nyaa it's way cute.
Again this was a once size item and was in cms. I was a tad worried that it might not fit me - Thanks to my child baring hips of mine , oh the joys of mother nature. Huhuh  But I was very happy to find that it is half elastic at the back and would stretch for me to squeeze it over the hips.

Its so so cute , I really can not get over how Kawaii it is.  Its quite light shade of Sky Blue and the print is adorable the skirt seems hard wearing and quirky for all styles, the only dislike I have about the skirt is its a bit on the short side, but that is a personal thing  and I can easily adapt the skirt with other items to make it suit my style.

Over all thoughts. I love both of my items, the top is cute simple and casual and the skirt is quirky Kawaii and sweet. They are both look good and match the stock images, they look hard wearing and I think the price's are well matched to the items.
I would like to see more of a personal touch from the seller ,such as some business cards or flyers from the store, Or maybe even dress up in presentation of the order. Apart form those minor little suggestions I am very happy with my order and the items, I have received from  Branded Kitty Shop!I hope you all like the review and do check the shop out and if you really like some thing you can use this discount too, A very Kawaii ,Tartan Kawaii discount code for you!

Kawaii Mummy-Ideas for little ones fun meal times!

Hello every Cutie and Kawaii mummy out there!
Today I will be letting you into some of my Kawaii secrets for ideas for little ones meals! Yep this is a post for all you kawaii Mummys out there!

Some times it really hard to get our little chibi-cuties to eat their meals - we all have and all will go through this stage or stages of them not wanting what we put in front of them...huhuh. But don't worry its only a phase,So please don't stress your self's out, I found after stressing out over wasted food and tears. That you just have to go with the flow!

So today I thought that I would share these ideas that  would be at least a a few ideas for food for your little chibi's! Am going to start off with the idea to pick super cute cutlery plates and cups too, I have found all cute characters in your local supermarket from Hello kitty to Mickey mouse. It's good to pick the characters your little one knows of to help make it look all about more encouraging and appealing for them to use.

Or why not get it in lots of rainbow colours in your cutlery! We have lots or pretty rainbow shades of forks and knifes in our kitchen drawer that I bought from the seasonal out doors summer sections (plastic picnic sets!) Such a clever idea! This some times really helps encourage little ones to use their own cutlery .

Preparing food-

The other idea I like to do is with the use of being a bit arty and kawaii is with the use of the cookie cutter, you can come up with so many ideas with simple shapes to kawaii character shapes! If you don't have a Cookie cutter even using a scone cake cutter can make circle shapes or why not just cut up the food in to shapes.

Say good bye to dull square toast in the morning's and say 'Hello' to Kitty and some '' Love'' heart Marmite toast- yum! Its me that likes the Marmite

Top- Tip ,If your little chibi is old enough , let them help get meal times ready! It can be very stressful if you are in a hurry but if you can give them the time to help , you may find they enjoy eating something that they have made for them self! It can be as simple as spreading their own toast!

As well as using cookie cutters, mould trays bento rice moulds can all be used to create a interesting looking meal. Why not decorate the meal on the plate and make a picture too?!

Encourage little chibi's to take part in making the pictures however sometimes the cute food pictures might not work so try cutting food up in small pieces or even grate food. And with a bit of imagination, who would say no to a Cheese (Grated) hill. My chibi loves to grate her own cheese.

Making food look fun can make it super Kawaii too! It's all about presentation!

Why not find food stamps with shapes these sandwiches look soo yummy!
Oh and don't forget to cut up the ham, cheese fruit, veggies to go inside the sandwiches too!
You can find lots of ideas form bento box websites and all over the internet , take what you want from the sites and apply it you your own ideas as it do not need to be all about Japanese food, you can pick the foods you and your chibi's love to eat and make them look so cute.
Home pack lunches for the little ones and Kawaii lovers alike will love these ideas or  why not make picnics out and about  kawaii and use bento food pickers or dividers will add lots more fun and cuteness to meals! Oh and dont' forget to make sure your lunch containers are cute looking too!!
For some encouragment for chibis at school pack lunches check these cute memos to add into the lunch box for them Link here!
Till next time!

Kawaii Crafts -Washi Blossom Garland

It is time to get crafty every Cutie, here is a Do it your self - How to make your own Washi Blossom Garland. To hang up and enjoy in your home, room or kawaii space!
Its a simple thing to make  that recycles old plastic bags and looks so cute hanging up. So lets go and get to the how to ...

What you will need it the following~
A bunch of Plastic bags
Some Washi Decorative tape
Thread
Scissors

Start with gathering all the things you need and set up some space.Take next your plastic bag and flatten it out. You want to cut it up into strips but discard the handle and the very end piece of the bag. You can play about with the widths of the ''Blossoms'' you wish to make. You might want to collect a few plastic bags for this!

Once you have done this you want to take you Washi tape or decorative tape and place it along the sides of the strips of plastic bags. You can pick any cute tapes to make your 'Blossoms' look really cute. This can be a tricky bit taping up the plastic bags strips so do take your time! Make sure you do both sides.

Once all the sides have their washi tape on them, you want to fold them up. so if you pinch the ends they will fan out. This is where you are going to need your thread to tie them up and keep it them from spring flat again. Make sure you try and tie the knots nice and tight in the middle of the plastic strips.

The next step is to take the folded strip and then cut around the ends in a rounded trim on the edge, This will give a bit of shape of a semi circle on the ends to make your ' blossoms'.
Once you have done this very gently  pull the sides to puff them out and then separated them even more to give some volume and shape to the 'blossom.' You should have something a bit like these..

Taa Daa!!
Then simply either string them along a thread like a garland or even bunch them up together. Hang them verticality across or even let them dangle like floating blossoms from above by attaching them high up. You can really put them any where you want and they are just so cute and a great little project to do with friends and family.
