Tartan , Kawaii and the BBC

Hey , guess what. So last week the word Kawaii was added to the English Directory was announced. Which is pretty cool- I saw a program about how they 'add' words to the directory and its something to do with how often the word is used verbally and in text via social media and the internet ..( Big brother really is watching!)  The program was rather interesting itself but hooray for KAWAII!  I wonder if they counted the amount of times I use it?! huhuh!?

So any way a reporter from the BBC wanted to do a written feature on Kawaii and through the great vines of contacts. I found my self making a telephone appointment for a interview the following day.

I was excited but oh my goodness I was really nervous, What would they ask? What would they like to know, What if I screw up?! What if I looked like a fool... - gahh!!
Yup I did not sleep well that night but after the school run the next day I awaited my phone call.

I really did not need to worry, My phone call was just some questions and my thoughts and feelings on Kawaii. I did not really know what sort of angle they were after for the feature so I did my very best. I mostly wanted to paint Kawaii in the best light possible and make it interesting to some one who has never heard of it or might of wondered what it is. We spoke about fashion and Kawaii Culture as well.
After words I got a lovely email back thanking me . Which was very sweet.

And here is the final feature, with myself and the UK company Cutesy Kink a online fashion store.
I think I did well.

Am very pleased to see that Kawaii is getting some sort of notice and appreciation.
As well I hope its the start of something exciting and a wave of Kawaii movement.

I find it really sweet that because its to do with the BBC I have family suddenly taken a interest my personal love for Kawaii. I some times wonder if its time for me to take a step up and venture down a path with my Kawaii passions.

What do you think?
Till next time! Keep it Kawaii xox

Spooky Kawaii

I really am feeling so un-motivated and un-kawaii this month- am gona blame it on the weather .

It's my excuse and am sticking with it. I think I need to go paint my nails some super cute colours or something to keep bright happy vibes around me.  Any way with that and being busy with the Marshmallow maids I wanted to share the video and some behind the scenes with you all. As you all know am part of the team of super cute maids- we are based in up here in scotland and am the teams photographer aka Photographer chan! The Maids Attend many events at different conventions and places

So some of the maids gathered and took over the home studio and got creepy cute with our photos! It was a lot of fun and a other reason for the lack of updates I have been editing the photos- which was a lot harder this time round due to my Flash gun giving up on me. I am going to have to get a new one by my next years set of conventions! - gulp, good bye money!-

I also went to a Lolita meet up- Well kinda, some of us in our wee group sorta missed the meet and well we just ended up doing our own wee thing but it was still very enjoyable! I really enjoyed the company I was in. I was not in lolita myself but the weather was so windy am sort of glad I wrapped up and no one could really see my outfit lol!
So am afraid this post is pretty short for this entry I will leave some photo's of the behind the senses with the maids and should get some more interesting posts up in the next week or so!

Rilakkuma and Kittens

Its time for a Shop and item Kawaii review!

Way back in July I caved in when I finally laid my eyes on these darling- and I mean darling cute, super adorable images of the new Collection with Rilakkuma , Our loveable bear dressed as a Cat! So naturally I had to hunt these cuties down and get my paws on them! Cause I love Cats!
I had to do a pre-order and did this with Mira Plush a company I found via Facebook. Thanks to winning a small giveaway they held.

So I ordered way back in July and the shop said they were expecting the items in around october, I was very content with the customer service and updates I got. Even to say that they had shipped my orders.
My order came the other day  so the shipping once dispatched took about 1 and half weeks to arrive.
I placed 2 orders and they both came at the same time.*Warning heavy photo spam of Kawaii-ness!*

My items came in a bubble wrap bag and sealed in their own plastic bags.

As you can see there is so much detail as Rilakkuma as a little tabby cat, He has the markings, a Red collar with golden bell, paws on him and even little whiskers on his checks. He is super soft and soo cute!
I was going to order Korilakkuma but cause am such a big fan of Kiiroitori  ( the yellow bird) I got him in his Cat outfit instead! Again he has a lot of cute cat details just like Rilakkuma too!

I paid about $25 for each plush and I was very happy with the service and items I got I would return back to the seller again and would recommend them.

Hope you enjoyed the review!

How to be Kawaii -Skin Care

Hey cuties!
Oh am so sorry I have been so half bothered about my blog, I suppose I really have had no motivation of late to blog about anything, everything has gone so quite! But I have not forgotten about my blog!
I am actually going to give it a bit of love and attention by giving it a make over! but it will take time . Talking of Make overs my blog post today is going to be all about my Skin Care routine.
Having Good healthy clear skin is a start on becoming and staying super Kawaii!

I am often asked, ''What's your secret?'' '' How is your skin so clear and perfect?'' ''Do you suck the youth of children to look so young?!''. Well yes I do suck the youth of children to keep my eternal young looking skin- that there, is my secret...OF course not!! *stares blankly* So I thought, I would share what I do. It really is not any secret at all. And if it helps you in any way or might give you some ideas then its worth a shot then.

The Brands that I use are Simple its a nice easy to use range of products , The Moisture, Toners and make up removers .These are products I have used for years and like them as they are gentle and light on my kind of skin..I have no idea what sort of skin I have but I will take a guess and say its c
The other products I use are the Good things Range from Boots which are the Manuka and Honey products of a Mask and Face Scrub. These I use either once a week, or every second week, I try to keep it to once a week to keep on top of giving my face a good clean but sometimes that is not the case. The Mask and the scrub smell so nice to me it is like giving myself a treat or some me time. As having a 3 year old little one clinging to you 24/7 . Some times you just want a bit of time to your self!

I admit I do not aways remember to use my Moisture and Toners, I try my best to mind to use my products before make up and such but am just being honest I do not always have the time. But one thing I do do, which i think plays a big part of keeping my skin nice and healthy is. I take off all my make up before bed, There was a time * hangs head in shame* where I would roll in from the dancing ( back in the day.) and be like out for the count or not be bothered to remove the make up and wake up the next day with make up smeared all over my face and pillow.. Not a Pretty sight haha!
Now I have a go to bed routine which is using my Simple products of Make up wipe removers. I switch from a cleanser one to a ex-foliate one the both do the same job. Once I get all my make up off I pay close attention to the eye area and be gentle around that and my lips.

Now if any of you know me well..I LOVE bright coloured and high pigmented lips, From Hot Pink to Bright Red! I love to have bright colours but those sorta colours can be powerful and some times dry your lips out or those ones which have high staying power ...yuno the ones, that are like water proof smudge proof and bullet proof, yup those's ones! They can really take it out on your lips so I like to use a lip scrub I got an Asian brand one- the name I have  forgotten- I use that every week when I do my face skin scrub and Mask.
But the other thing I do every night is layer on some chap stick or lip balm for my lips to get hydrated while I sleep.

Talking of sleep! Sleep is also a great thing for your skin. When you sleep your skin repairs its self, and a other top tip is drinking LOTS of Water! Yea when I have a cheeky day of junk food ...What? It's okay.. some times you have to eat all the things and junk and fizzy drinks but...I take the next day to snap out of it and avoid all junk food and flush it out my system by drinking more water, its good for your system and your body!
The other thing I like to do when I can is I take every so often a NO- Make-up day(s)! Yup that means NOTHING AT ALL! I go about my day bare faced and face all so natural, Its a good idea to let your skin breathe every once and a while , if you are not keen on the idea why not pick it as a day where you are not up for doing anything  or on holiday. I am not a person who can not leave the house with out make up but I do like to keep my best. But its something I do suggest you try.

Remember every one has different skin so some of the products I use might not be best suited for you - so best talk to those beauty girls at the department stores and am sure they can help you with products and skin care too!

So every one that's the big old secrets to my eternal youth *cough* I mean the secrets to my Skin Care, its just basic stuff and like every one else some times am on top of my game other times am not, but that's okay. I will just pick up the pieces tomorrow

How to stay Kawaii , Positive and Optimistic

Hey every one, am sorry I have not been about on my blog much . It's been a month or something like that.
I wanted to do this post though cause I have not really been feeling, well myself. Both from being un well and emotionally all over the place. It can be super hard being so optimistic all the time and all so positive. I do my very best to encourage others to also keep their chin up and always there if any one needs me. But looks like I burnt the candle at both end of the stick!  My bad.
I guess when you have dreams and goals to reach you get dis-hearted when you see others surpassing you, even though I am a firm believer in ''things happen for a reason.'' Anyway leaving all that gloomy-ness aside I thought I would share the things I do when I get a bit low in my moods and need to pick myself up. Maybe some of these can help you too?! It's worth a shot anyway, Right?

How to stay Kawaii, positive and optimistic.

Some times life can take its ups and downs and can leave you feeling down, it can effect you in so many ways some get depressed others feel down right awful. It's okay it is human nature for that to happen , we all go through it at some point in our life. When I find myself feeling down,I take myself out of the situations and find a quite place - often my bedroom- and remind myself how damm lucky I am and that somewhere there is others who are not as blessed as me. And I count my blessings from my health , having a roof over my head and a wonderful cute little family.

Then I firmly tell myself its time to'' Man up Princess!!'' I then will go and do something as if I was to take on the world one step at the time from taking a bath or go and give myself a face mask, cause you gotta look good taking on the the world right. This will include using am beauty products and skin care mixed with my Kawaii pampering products, but of course!

Those 2 steps alone can snap right out of it but if that don't work . I move on to the next step...this is a great one, turning on your most up beat CD, in my case its my Kyary Pon Pon albums. Turn up the sound and dance and sing along like no one can hear or see me. ( may be a good thing I would hate to embarrassed any poor soul to be subject to that!) Might sound crazy but it and shift a mood pretty quickly.

The other things that I find help is picking a bright colour to wear may it be in my outfit or layering on a accessories and not giving a damm about what any one things, as in one of those days you put on those crazy like earring on that do not match and damm thing in your wardrobe but your wearing it anyway and it makes you happy- It makes you feel like its your armour. Or picking that lippy that clearly you know damm well fine that it is not matching your skin tone-lol- but gurl your wearing it regardless cause you need that pick me up, so just go for it!
Taking a walk has a great uplifting effect but when its pretty wet outside I retreat to my Kawaii room where I throw myself on top of my 4ft Doughnut (rubber ring pool toy- random I know lol) and surround myself with my cute and Kawaii stuff and have a huff or a sulk because we are only human and every one needs a good huff every so often, Chibi bean is the queen of huffs and then I change my thoughts on being thankful for all the wonderful things I have. Some times you have to put things back into perspective

Lastly the other thing I do it smile, keep on smiling and then get back up dust off the dirt . Grab some glitter and throw it around and get back to your working on those dreams and goals, Some times set backs and obstacles get in the way to test how strong we are. But even though it hurts, upsets or annoys us at the time if it didn't test us then it we would not appreciate  the dreams and goals when we get finally do get them.

Doing these things* , even repeating them over and over and snapping out of feeling down helps me... Maybe some of these things might help you. Or even just knowing that even myself can not be ultra - super - kawaii every day of the year might help you. Every one has ups and downs but you can do it!

 I believe in you!

*if any of you think you suffer from low moods or depression in any way or form please seek out your local doctor . Or find some one you trust to talk to about your feelings *

Kawaii London- Item review.

Hey guys , a good while back I put a order into a Esty store called Kawaii London, that has some very interesting and quirky items. I found them via facebook which in turn lead me to the online shop.
Facebook linkShop and Esty links for ya.

What really attracted me there was the bright and bold colours, I saw a jumper that looked super cute and cosy and just of late , I went through all my jumper and am disgusted in my Kawaii self. HOW on EARTH did I neglect jumpers! About 80% of them are old, shabby, un loved ,dull and so un-kawaii ...some one call the Kawaii police its that bad!

I just can't...Any way I was like RIGHT, winter time means jumpers so I have taken it in my hands to find and update my jumpers/sweaters to the Kawaii level that they should be at.
Because my order was places through Esty it was super easy to order, put it in the basket and use pay pal . Done. So this is a small independent designer who doses these which is why I was happy to pay about £20 for the jumper I wanted.

My order was a bit delayed but this was in no fault of the seller as it was due to a bank holiday in England. These things happen. So my order came in the post, well presented and packed neatly.

Oh yea I also got a Barbie inspired  bracelet, it was so quirky and cute but after a week - I caught it on the hoover , Well the part where you wrap the cord up after you been doing the hoovering and then go to tidy it away...yea I do house work guy's , the kawaii life do have it pit falls lol! Well ,that bit yeah? My bracelet snagged on it...beads everywhere. Gutted.
So it was a short relationship with the bracelet. But I really loved it and was wearing it every day. Am such a shatter brain at times. I should have taken it off to do the chores . Any I do have it in some of the photos I took.

As you can see the Bracelet was so cute, but the jumper is really awesome too. The jumper has diamonds all over it some are glitter others are yellow -ish shade and a sky blue shade and the all very sharp and clean cut on the HOT pink over all jumper colour.
I picked a M size which is to be a UK 12, I picked it because I love my baggy jumpers to cuddle under and cosy up with and liked the idea of a over size, I think if I did pick the S size it too would be nice a roomy when worn. Inside the jumper is a soft and fleece fuffly feeling. Making it nice a cosy!

If you love diamonds and hot pink and love a bold piece of clothing then this is the shop for you.
I have already spied a other outfit I would like to purchase from Kawaii London. I think I will wait till the end or next month to pick something . Mind you it might not get much ware out of it as its more like a summery item! LOL

Kawaii Haul of Cute and MCM Glasgow

Every one ! How are you all ?
Seems like forever since I did a blog post - whoops my bad! So I thought I would get back on my laptop and blog away some stuff , Oh but my typical luck my laptop broke on me so I had to delay it even more. - sigh-.
So to cheer myself up with all my bad luck of late, I swear some one is cursing me. I treated myself to some fun Kawaii goodies.
I ordered from one of my fave online esty stores, Frilly pops and order a pair of HOT pink pom pom earrings I saw the colour and fell in love with them and also I got a gift from the sweetie store owner which was such a surprise. A other set of earrings of mini pom poms in a leopard print style, they were so cute and stylish.

I love these pink pom poms so much they are so sassy and cute. I am not much of a girly girl but I do love my Pink stuff, The brighter the better!

I also got on order from 2 shops in the USA. A place I love and admire all the time I  am chubby bunny for her stylish and bold Kawaii looking hair bows , I have seen. I eventully picked one I have had my eye on for a while , I like ordering from here cause it comes so fast and its such a delight to open!

As well as getting my bow I also picked a pair of stars and heart earrings.
Am very happy with my order. Everything is soo cute!
The other place I Ordered from is a place I have not shopped with before I am your Present which is a Esty store, I picked up 2 super kawaii pieces that are soo cute and fun looking.
One is a collar clip with unicorns on it , that looks so magical and a pair of crazy colourful earrings.

I Just love these, they sent me a extra pair of earrings that I sent off to a pen pal as I cant wait really wear small earrings am scared I will lose them lol! I love the clips cause you can play about with many ideas with them. And Unicorns!! Who don't like Unicorns! The Stars are so fun and bubbly and cute.

Last weekend was the weekend of MCM Glasgow comic con. It was lots of fun and I got to hang out with my friends who were all dressed up form Lolita to Cosplay which was so cool . I only bought food and a plushie for my Chibi bean- a Yoshi one.  As I have seen other things I wanted to buy online later this month.
I ended up meeting a great cosplayer as the Joker ,in the queue. I was meeting my friends inside the event and spoke away. I seem to mange to be myself at conventions cause every one there has something in common with you and you don't need to spend long to find out what you have in common. I have a video to edit and up load and also got more you tube videos to do - watch this space !
So here is some of my photos!

So this was Glasgows 2nd MCM , I have to say that this year they were much more prepared for the numbers! A bigger hall was picked and the queue system ran smoothly . There was so many stalls and merch to let your eyes wonder too. I really went for the cosplay more than anything. But with a 5.30 am start I really did not get in the mood for taking photos this time. which is gutting but never mind. This year I was semi- dressed as Super Mario!

The only problem I had was my moustache kept coming off! Gahh!! I also did get to take photos of the Stunning Sailor moon who my friend Keara dressed as in cosplay! Which you can find here on this link.
https://www.facebook.com/LeCuirotPhotography

I had a good weekend even though I was still recovering from the cold I got, and its nice to go and meet up with friends and do something we all enjoy. It was super fun maybe a bit awkward when others asked for our pictures, I really did not think my cosplay was very good haha! Next time I will defo pick a better cosplay and take way more photos!

so till next time!

The Sake - A Japanese Performance

Last weekend I and my sweetie Hubby went to see The Sake - a Japanese performance that was on at the Edinburgh Fringe. I knew about the show as there as a preview performance on stage when I was down at Hyper Japan.

So when we found out about this and it being on our door step we made sure to book some tickets , the baby sitter and went to on our way. I was not completely sure what to expect as the we only saw a small preview on the Hyper Japan stage all the event said was it was a story and performance with lights.

These are all photos from Hyper Japan, from The Sake preview. Which I really enjoyed so I was looking forward so much to seeing the full length show. The Show is a Story , through music dance and stunning dance with drapes and ribbons.

The Story of the Sake takes you through a year of the season in which each season there is the aspects of elements that are used to make the Sake. The performers are all stunning and the narrator is charming witty and drunk ( acting btw.) sake brewer . The Spring has light images projected  of the Cherry blossom season where you watched a stunning dancer , performing with grace and beauty which then led to the musician using something  that looked like some kind of metal drum. That created the sound of rain that soon led to a down pour and that's when we meet more artists who used ropes and outfits to represent the elements of the Thunder and Wind gods of Shinto.

It was utterly jaw dropping stuff. This was when the Bass and guitar players start playing music to complement the mood of the Ropes spinning at top speed with the dancers on them. - Kyaa!!

Soon next came the next month of Autumn and  and the light hearted fun came into play with our narrator chasing the cheeky mice and getting people from the crowd to come on stage and par take lessons from him wielding the sword to deal with the mice snacking on the Rice. Soon after we get to admire the ' Magic' that is then performed  to make the Sake well.. Sake.  hehe which was just magical to watch.

Derpy me and some of the Cast Performers.
After some fun and entertainment of magic the Winter comes into play, where we meet more of the Elemental Gods of winter and possibly Frost while the sake ages and brews. Again a other stunning perfomace with dance and music . As well as this one performer who was spinning and dancing with only 2 pieces of  long thick ribbons from the top of the stage.

It was a very interesting performance and show I really enjoyed it very much it was just magic, As much as love the Kawaii aspect and fashions from Japan, I have a huge soft spot for the much more traditional side of Japan.

After the performance, I went over to greet the Narrator and the Cherry Blossom dancer , I thanked them for a lovely show ( using my broken Japanese haha.) And said how we heard about them . The Cherry Blossom dancer was tickled pink with this and she was UTTERLY STUNNING! She even offered me a gift of signed post cards of her after hearing we saw them at Hyper Japan. Which then got others talking and wondering who I was to get a slightly different treatment than them! Which was kind of funny.

If you ever do find out that this show, The Sake is on near you it is so worth checking out!
Till next time!  Kanpai!!! *raises a Sake Box*
